Clinton Hill is a neighborhood in north-central Brooklyn, a borough of New York City. It is bordered by the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Flushing Avenue to the north, Williamsburg to the northeast, Classon Avenue and Bedford–Stuyvesant to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Prospect Heights to the south and southwest and Vanderbilt Avenue and Fort Greene to the west. "The Hill", as the general area was known – with a maximum elevation of , the highest in the area – was believed to have health benefits because many people believed that disease was more prevalent in low-lying areas. Clinton Hill Historic District
Clinton Hill Historic District is a national historic district in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, in New York City. It consists of 1,063 largely residential contributing buildings built between the 1840s and 1930 in popular contemporary and revival styles. Buildings include freestanding mansions, row houses, and apartment buildings. The district includes the mansions of Clinton Avenue, built in the 1870s and 1880s. The most prominent of these are linked to Charles Pratt, who built a mansion for himself at 232 Clinton Avenue in 1874, the year his Charles Pratt & Company was acquired by Standard Oil, and one each as wedding presents for three of his four sons. These four mansions can be seen on Clinton Avenue between DeKalb and Willoughby. The rest of the historic district is noted for its prominent Italianate and Beaux-Arts rowhouses. Clinton Hill is a neighborhood within the south-central portion of the city of Newark in Essex County, New Jersey. It takes its name from the no-longer extant Clinton Township, of which the neighborhood was once part. Its main thoroughfare is Clinton Avenue. It is roughly bounded by Irvington to the west, Interstate 78/ Weequahic to the south and Avon Avenue/ Springfield/Belmont to the north. At Elizabeth Avenue it overlaps South Broad Valley. Clinton Hill (1922–2003) was an American abstract artist who created abstract color compositions on canvas, constructions made from wood and canvas, wood and plastic relief sculptures, collage, woodblock prints and unique assemblages of handmade paper. Life and work Born in Payette, Idaho, and raised on a working ranch, Clinton Hill served in the navy during World War II as commander of a minesweeper in the Pacific. Upon his return from service, Hill attended the University of Oregon from which he graduated in 1947. Clinton J. Hill (January 4, 1932 – February 21, 2025) was a United States Secret Service agent who served under five U.S. presidents, from Dwight D. Eisenhower to Gerald Ford. Hill is best known for his act of bravery on November 22, 1963, when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. During the assassination, Hill ran into the line of fire from the Secret Service follow-up car, leaped onto the back of the presidential car, and shielded the stricken president and first lady Jacqueline Kennedy with his own body as the car raced to Parkland Memorial Hospital. His act was documented in film footage by Abraham Zapruder. Hill was the last surviving person who was inside the presidential limousine on November 22, 1963. Clinton Scott Hill (born 19 October 1978) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently assistant manager of League One side Stockport County. Hill began his career with local side Tranmere Rovers in 1997. He broke into the first team and became a regular as Rovers reached the League Cup final in 2000. Hill was sent-off however as Tranmere lost 2–1. He remained at Prenton Park until 2002 when he joined Oldham Athletic and after impressing there he was signed by Championship side Stoke City. His first season with Stoke was cut down due to injuries which hampered his time at the club. He left for Crystal Palace after making 84 appearances for Stoke in five years. At Palace he played well despite the club struggling financially and when manager Neil Warnock joined Queens Park Rangers Hill followed him in July 2010. Clinton Hill (born 19 April 1980) is an Australian athlete. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, his family moved to Australia in 1997. He became an Australian citizen in June 2000 and was selected for the national 400 metres team. He competed in the 400 Metres at the 2004 Olympics, but was knocked out in the heats. However, Hill anchored the Australian team that won the silver medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay.
