Cleveleys Bus Station
Cleveleys bus station is located on Rough Lea Road in Cleveleys, Lancashire, England. Built in 1932, and serving several local towns, the station has four stands. History The station was built by Thornton Cleveleys Urban District in 1932, and was used by Ribble Motor Services buses initially. Blackpool Corporation buses began serving it in 1940. In 2024, a mural with a ''Star Wars'' theme was unveiled inside the station, after nearby Cleveleys beach was used as a location for the American television series Andor. Christian Fenn was the artist. The station was refurbished in 2012. Services Blackpool Transport's Blackpool-bound routes 7 and 7A and Transpora's routes 24 (Fleetwood and Blackpool via Poulton-le-Fylde), 568 and 660 serve the bus station. Cleveleys
Cleveleys is a town on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire, England, about north of Blackpool and south of Fleetwood. It is part of the Borough of Wyre. With its neighbouring settlement of Thornton, Cleveleys was part of the former urban district of Thornton-Cleveleys and is part of the Blackpool Urban Area. In 2011 the Cleveleys Built-up area sub division had a population of 10,754. History At the start of the Second World War, several departments of the Ministry of Pensions, the Ministry of Education and the Board of Trade were moved to the Cleveleys area. Some were housed in the Rossall School briefly. An extensive site was developed for the Ministry of Pensions in the Norcross section of Carleton and all the government departments moved out in 1940. Wyre Council
Wyre is a local government district with borough status on the coast of Lancashire, England. The council is based in Poulton-le-Fylde and the borough also contains the towns of Cleveleys, Fleetwood, Garstang, Preesall and Thornton, along with numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. Some of the borough's built-up areas form part of the wider Blackpool urban area. Eastern parts of the borough lie within the Forest of Bowland, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The borough is named after the River Wyre, which runs through the area and meets the sea at Fleetwood. There are no road or rail connections between the parts of the borough either side of the Wyre estuary, and it is necessary to cross the neighbouring Fylde district in order to travel between the two parts of Wyre, or else use the Wyre Estuary Ferry between Fleetwood and Knott End.
