Cleitinho Azevedo
Cleiton Gontijo de Azevedo, often referred to as just Cleitinho (born 15 April 1982), is a Brazilian businessman, musician, and politician. He has been a senator from the state of Minas Gerais since 2023. He previously served as a state deputy in Minas Gerais, as well as a councilman in his hometown of Divinópolis. He is currently affiliated with the Republicanos. Cleitinho's brother is Eduardo Azevedo, who is currently a state deputy in Minas Gerais. In 2016, he was elected as a councilman in Divinópolis in 2016. He was elected as a state deputy as part of Cidadania with 115,492 votes. He left Cidadania in 2022 and became affiliated with the Social Christian Party (PSC) to run for the federal senate. Federal Senate (Brazil)
The Federal Senate ( pt, Senado Federal) is the upper house of the National Congress of Brazil. When created under the Imperial Constitution in 1824, it was based on the House of Lords of the British Parliament, but since the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889 and under the first republican Constitution the Federal Senate has resembled the United States Senate. The current president of the Federal Senate is Rodrigo Pacheco, a member of the Social Democratic Party from Minas Gerais. He was elected in February, 2021 for a two-year term. Cidadania () is a Brazilian political party. It was originally founded as the Popular Socialist Party ( pt, Partido Popular Socialista, PPS) by members of the former Brazilian Communist Party (PCB), as a centre-left social democratic and democratic socialist party.
