Clarkson College is a private college in Omaha, Nebraska focused on the health sciences. The institution was founded in 1888 by Meliora Clarkson following the death of her husband Bishop Robert Clarkson of the Episcopal Church. It is affiliated with Nebraska Medicine. Total student enrollment was 1,178 in fall 2018. History In 1869, the Omaha Good Samaritan Hospital opened in Omaha, Nebraska, and seven months later, the hospital was transferred to the care of Bishop Clarkson. After his death in 1884, his wife, Meliora, worked with deaconesses of the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral to establish a training school for nurses within the hospital. Clarkson, Oklahoma
Clarkson was a small community located north of the Cimarron River in Payne County, Oklahoma Territory. Founded by Dunkers (Church of the Brethren), the post office opened January 31, 1890, with Grant T. Johnson as the postmaster. The post office closed February 28, 1903. On January 3, 1894, members of the Doolin Gang held up the community store and post office taking supplies, tobacco, cash, and registered mail. Clarkson is an unincorporated community in Middleton Township, Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. History Clarkson was platted in February 1816 by Robert Hanna, who moved there in a conestoga wagon with his wife. It was surveyed by William Heald. Hanna built and resided in a log tavern at the intersection of two roads. This building was later known as the Edward McGinnis tavern. In 1817, James Monroe, while President of the United States, visited his cousin, Catherine Hanna, in Clarkson. A post office was established in Clarkson in 1833 and remained until 1935. By 1879, Clarkson had two churches, three stores, and about 30 houses. An early settler and businessman was Milo Warrick who, in 1840, was a cabinet maker and undertaker in Clarkson. Clarkson is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Clarkson in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 4,694 at the 2020 census, out of 6,904 in the entire town of Clarkson. Geography The Clarkson CDP is in the southern part of the town of Clarkson, centered on the intersection of State Routes 19 and 104. The CDP is bordered to the south by the village of Brockport and the town of Sweden. Route 19 (Lake Road) leads north to Hamlin and to its terminus at Lake Ontario, while to the south it leads through Brockport and continues to Bergen, away. Route 104 ( Ridge Road) leads east to the northern part of Rochester and west to Lewiston at the Niagara River.
