Clarendon College (Jamaica)
Clarendon College, commonly called CC, is a high school in the town of Chapelton in northern Clarendon, Jamaica. History It is the oldest school in the parish and was founded on 2 February 1942 by the Rev'd. Lester Davy, Minister of Religion of the Congregational Church Union of Jamaica. Lester Robert Davy was born in 1909, son of Ruth-Ann Eliza Davy (née Phillips) and David S. Davy, of Davyton, Manchester. He originally trained as a teacher at The Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica. Rev'd. T. Hughes of the Congregational Union of Jamaica convinced Davy to build a school and that he did accomplish at Rose Bank in Chapelton Clarendon. The school started with only two teachers, Rev. Davy and Mrs. Hyacinth Balford, and ten students, including Davy's nephew, Horace V. Freeman (later, CD, an attorney-at-law). The school was later relocated to its current location on Chapelton Hill. Clarendon College is a public community college in Clarendon, Texas. It also operates branch campuses in Pampa and Childress. The college was established in 1898 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South and administered as a private institution until 1927 when it became a publicly supported two-year institution. As defined by the Texas Legislature, the official service area of Clarendon College is Armstrong, Briscoe, Childress, Collingsworth, Donley, Gray, Hall, and Wheeler Counties. Ballarat Clarendon College is a private, co-educational, day and boarding school, located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Formerly affiliated with the Presbyterian Church of Australia, it now operates in association with the Uniting Church in Australia (but is not governed or managed by the Church) and is a member of the Ballarat Associated Schools. The school charges fees of $22,470 per year for domestic students in year 11 or year 12. The Clarendon Academy
The Clarendon Academy (formerly The Clarendon College, The Clarendon School and Nelson Haden School) is a mixed secondary school and sixth form located in Trowbridge in the English county of Wiltshire. History Nelson Haden Senior Boys' Secondary Modern School and Nelson Haden County Girls' Secondary Modern opened on the site that is now the Clarendon Academy on 16 September 1940. In August 1974 both sets of school buildings became Clarendon School, when Wiltshire County Council implemented the comprehensive education system in Trowbridge. In 2005 the school became the Clarendon College, a specialist Language College. It converted to academy status on 1 December 2012 and was renamed the Clarendon Academy, with the sponsorship of the Education Fellowship. However, the school continues to coordinate with Wiltshire Council for its admissions. Clarendon School
The Clarendon School is a historic school building located in the Virginia Square neighborhood of Arlington County, Virginia. The structure was erected in 1910 based on a design by noted Virginia architect Charles M. Robinson. The school was renamed to the Maury School in 1925 to honor Matthew Fontaine Maury (1806-1873), a geographer, and oceanographer known as the “Pathfinder of the Seas.” Born on January 14, 1806, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, Maury joined the United States Navy in 1821 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1836. He served as superintendent of the Navy Department's Depot of Charts and Instruments (the United States Naval Observatory) from 1842 to 1855 and from 1858 to 1861. When the American Civil War started in 1861, Maury resigned from the United States Navy to accept a commission as a commander in the Confederate States Navy, and later became Secretary of the Navy for the Confederacy.
