Clara Belle Baker (February 6, 1885 – May 5, 1961) was an American educator who was an early advocate of having children learn by doing. Baker was the co-founder and director of Baker Demonstration School in Wilmette, Illinois. Clara Belle Williams
Clara Belle Williams (October 29, 1885 – July 3, 1993) was the first African-American graduate of New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts (now New Mexico State University), became an educator, and raised three sons who became doctors. Early life and marriage Williams was born Clara Belle Drisdale in Plum, Texas, on October 29, 1885. She pursued her education on scholarship at the Prairie View Normal and Independent College, graduating as valedictorian in 1905. In 1910, she studied at The University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She married Jasper Williams in 1917 and they had three sons. Clarabell The Clown
Clarabell the Clown is a character who was part of the main cast on the 1947-1960 series ''The Howdy Doody Show''. Clarabell, who wore a baggy, striped costume, communicated through mime and by honking a horn for "yes" or "no". Clarabell would also spray fellow cast member Buffalo Bob Smith with seltzer. Three actors played Clarabell on a regular basis. The first was Bob Keeshan, who later became Captain Kangaroo and was reputedly fired over a salary dispute in 1952. Keeshan was succeeded by Robert "Nick" Nicholson, who also played the character of J. Cornelius Cobb on ''The Howdy Doody Show''. Lew Anderson was the third and last person to play Clarabell. Anderson played the character from 1954 until the series' final episode on September 24, 1960. Aloha Airlines Flight 243 (IATA: AQ243, ICAO: AAH243) was a scheduled Aloha Airlines flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. On April 28, 1988, a Boeing 737-297 serving the flight suffered extensive damage after an explosive decompression in flight, caused by part of the fuselage breaking due to poor maintenance and metal fatigue. The plane was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui. The one fatality, flight attendant Clarabelle "C.B." Lansing, was ejected from the airplane. Another 65 passengers and crew were injured. The substantial damage inflicted by the decompression, the loss of one cabin crew member, and the safe landing of the aircraft established the incident as a significant event in the history of aviation, with far-reaching effects on aviation safety policies and procedures.
