"Clancy Lowered the Boom" is a song written by Hy Heath and Johnny Lange in 1947, made famous by Dennis Day on Jack Benny's radio program (''The Jack Benny Program''). The song follows the adventures of an Irish-American stereotype as he "lowers the boom" on any person that gives him "guff". Day's recording for RCA Victor briefly charted in the No. 23 spot in the Billboard charts in 1949. Several variations of the lyrics are available online, but do not include the final line from Dennis Day's RCA recording: "Sure, 'twas the most beautiful fight y' ever did see when Clancy lower'd the boom!" ''The Overflow of Clancy'' is a poem written under the pseudonym "H.H.C.C" and first published in ''The Bulletin'' magazine on 20 August 1892 as part of the Bulletin Debate, a series of poems about the true nature of life in the Australian bush. The poem is a parody of Paterson's ''Clancy of the Overflow''. Colin Roderick, in his biography ''Banjo Paterson: Poet by Accident'' (1993), states on page 76 that he believes the poem was written by Henry Lawson. However, Herbert Humphrey Cripps-Clark (1860–1929) was a contemporary poet whose initials were the same as those of the pseudonym. Clancy were a British rock group, prominent in the pub rock scene of the early 1970s. They issued two albums on Warner Bros. Records, but did not achieve chart success. History In mid-1973, Ian Gomm of Brinsley Schwarz introduced Colin Bass (of the Foundations and Velvet Opera) who Gomm had played with in the Daisy Showband, to Ernie Graham (of Eire Apparent and Help Yourself) and Jonathan "Jojo" Glemser (also of Help Yourself) who Gomm had played with on the Downhome Rhythm Kings tour. Together with drummer Steve Brendell (ex-Matchbox) and Dave Vasco (also formerly of the Foundations), they formed Clancy, who became part of London’s growing pub rock scene. They briefly signed with Island Records, but were dropped after differences with producer Muff Winwood. The Clancy Brothers
The Clancy Brothers were an influential Irish folk music group that developed initially as a part of the American folk music revival. Most popular during the 1960s, they were famed for their Aran jumper sweaters and are widely credited with popularising Irish traditional music in the United States and revitalising it in Ireland, contributing to an Irish folk boom with groups like the Dubliners and the Wolfe Tones. The Clancy Brothers, Patrick Clancy, Tom Clancy, and Liam Clancy, are known best for their work with Tommy Makem, recording almost two dozen albums together as The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Twenty One Pilots (stylized in all lowercase or as twenty øne piløts) are an American musical duo from Columbus, Ohio. Clancy is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Jefferson County, Montana, United States. The population was 1,661 at the 2010 census, up from 1,406 in 2000. It is part of the Helena Micropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1873 as a gold camp and named for prospector William Clancey. A fire in 1902 destroyed many of the buildings in town. Geography Clancy is located in northern Jefferson County at (46.474638, -111.983497), in the valley of Prickly Pear Creek where it is joined by Clancy Creek. Clancy is bordered to the north by Montana City and to the south by Jefferson City. Interstate 15 passes through Clancy, with access from Exit 182. I-15 leads north to Helena, the state capital, and south to Boulder, the Jefferson county seat. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , all land.
