Civil Conflict
The Civil Conflict (sometimes styled as the conFLiCT) was the name given by former UConn Huskies football head coach Bob Diaco to Connecticut's annual matchup against the UCF Knights football team of the University of Central Florida. The teams first met in 2013 as members of the American Athletic Conference. History UCF and UConn first met in 2013 after UCF left Conference USA and joined the American Athletic Conference. The first mention of the rivalry and associated trophy occurred after Connecticut's 37–29 victory over UCF in November 2014, which was Diaco's first FBS win as Connecticut head coach. The 2014 game also broke UCF's 11-game winning streak in conference play. In a press statement Diaco said "We're excited about this game. I mean it. I'm excited to continue this game. War On I-4
The War on I-4 is a college rivalry between the University of Central Florida Knights and University of South Florida Bulls. The rivalry is best known for its college football matchup which originated in a series of football games played from 2005 to 2008 and now takes place on Thanksgiving weekend, the ''de facto'' "rivalry weekend" for FBS football. From 2013 to 2023, when both schools were part of the American Athletic Conference, the schools began competing annually in all sports both schools sponsored (with the 1993–94 season being the only other season the schools competed in every sport both schools sponsored). In 2016, the schools officially adopted the "War on I-4" as an official competition series. Each year, the team with the most wins across all sports receives a gold trophy styled after an Interstate 4 (I-4) road sign with the logos of each school. FBC Mortgage Stadium
FBC Mortgage Stadium (scheduled to become Acrisure Bounce House) is an American football stadium located near Orlando in Orange County, Florida, United States, on the main campus of the University of Central Florida. It is the home field of the UCF Knights of NCAA Division I FBS college football. It is the current site for the Hula Bowl, and has also hosted the Cure Bowl. It was also the home field for the now defunct Orlando Apollos during the first and only season of the Alliance of American Football (2019). The stadium opened in 2007, replacing Camping World Stadium (then known as the Citrus Bowl) in Downtown Orlando as the home of the Knights, where they had played since their inaugural season in 1979. Geno Auriemma
Luigi "Geno" Auriemma (born March 23, 1954) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach of the University of Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team. He holds the NCAA basketball records for wins and winning percentage with a minimum of 10 seasons. Auriemma also has the most NCAA Division I basketball championships at 12. Serving as UConn's head coach since 1985, Auriemma built the team into one of the top women's college basketball programs. In addition to the record 12 championships, he has led UConn to 19 undefeated conference seasons (including eight consecutive) and six perfect seasons. Randy Edsall
Randy Douglas Edsall (born August 27, 1958) is an American former American football, football coach who recently served as the head football coach for UConn Huskies football, Connecticut from 1999 to 2010 and again from 2017 until his abrupt retirement in 2021. He also served as the head coach for Maryland Terrapins football, Maryland from 2011 to 2015 and as the director of football research and special projects for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) in 2016. Scott Frost
Scott Andrew Frost (born January 4, 1975) is an American football coach and player who currently serves as the head football coach for UCF Knights football, UCF. He was the head football coach at the Nebraska Cornhuskers football, University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 2018 to 2022, and previously served as UCF's head coach from 2016 to 2017. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Frost played college football as a quarterback for the Stanford Cardinal football, Stanford Cardinal and the Cornhuskers, the latter of which he led to a 1997 Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, shared national championship in 1997. George O'Leary
George Joseph O'Leary (born August 17, 1946) is a former American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1994 to 2001 and the UCF Knights from 2004 to 2015. He was famously hired in 2001 to be the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but resigned after five days for lying on his resume. O'Leary was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) from 2002 to 2004, and an assistant coach for the Syracuse Orange and San Diego Chargers. The UConn Huskies football team is a college football team that represents the University of Connecticut in the sport of American football. The team competes in NCAA Division I FBS as an NCAA Division I FBS independent schools, independent.
