Citrus (album)
''Citrus'' is the second studio album by American shoegaze band Asobi Seksu. It was released on May 30, 2006, in the United States by Friendly Fire Recordings, and on August 13, 2007, in the United Kingdom by One Little Indian Records. Three singles were released from ''Citrus'': "Thursday" on August 6, 2007, "Strawberries" on November 12, 2007, and "Goodbye" on February 25, 2008. Critical reception In 2016, ''Pitchfork'' ranked ''Citrus'' as the 37th best shoegaze album of all time. In popular culture Music from ''Citrus'' was used in the British TV series '' Skins'': "Thursday" appeared in "Tony and Maxxie", the first episode of season 2 (which aired February 11, 2008), and the song "Nefi + Girly" was featured in "Everyone", the first episode of season 3 (which aired January 22, 2009). Asobi Seksu
Asobi Seksu was an American shoegaze/dream pop band based in New York City. Their music used a textured and effects-heavy vocal and guitar sound. The band primarily consisted of Yuki Chikudate (vocals, keyboards) and James Hanna (guitar, vocals). History Forming in 2001, the band was originally known as Sportfuck, and issued an EP under that name that year. The band then changed their name to Asobi Seksu, from the Japanese 遊びセックス (asobi sekkusu), "play sex". The original lineup consisted of Chikudate, Hanna, drummer Keith Hopkin and bassist Glenn Waldman. Hanna and Hopkin, with bassist Haji, had previously been members of the New York City space rock trios Three Cornered Season and Theta Wave State. Asobi Seksu's full-length self-titled debut album was self-released in 2002, and later re-released on the Friendly Fire Recordings label on May 18, 2004. Jeffrey Ross Hyman (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001), known professionally as Joey Ramone, was an American musician, best known as the lead singer and a founding member of the punk rock band Ramones. ''Brain Drain'' is the eleventh studio album by the American punk rock band the Ramones, released on May 23, 1989. It is the last Ramones release to feature bassist/songwriter/vocalist Dee Dee Ramone, the first to feature Marky Ramone since his initial firing from the band after 1983's '' Subterranean Jungle'' and the band's last studio album on Sire Records. Oscar Greeley Clendenning Hammerstein II (; July 12, 1895 – August 23, 1960) was an American lyricist, librettist, theatrical producer, and (usually uncredited) director in the musical theater for almost 40 years. He won eight Tony Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song. Many of his songs are standard repertoire for vocalists and jazz musicians. He co-wrote 850 songs. is a Japanese-American musician. She was the main vocalist and keyboardist of the dream pop band Asobi Seksu. Musical career In 2001, she founded the dream pop band Asobi Seksu with guitarist James Hanna, bassist Glenn Waldman and drummer Keith Hopkin. The band released their debut album in 2004.
