Citizens' Movement ( es, Movimiento Ciudadano) is a political party in Mexico. Dante Delgado Rannauro was its first leader. It was initially known as Convergence for Democracy ( es, Convergencia por la Democracia), but the name was shortened to simply Convergence ( es, Convergencia) in August 2002. In July 2011, it was reformed as the Citizens' Movement. Since the 4th of December 2018, Clemente Castañeda has been the head of the party as part of a new wave of young leaders. Convergence was founded as a "national political grouping" in 1997. It attained registered party status in 1999 and participated in federal elections in the 2000 general election as a component in the "Alliance for Mexico" ''(Alianza por México),'' whose (unsuccessful) presidential candidate was Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas. The Independent Citizens Movement (or Independent Citizens' Movement) is a political party in the U.S. Virgin Islands that was founded by Virdin C. Brown and Steve O'Reilly in 1968. Its symbol is the torch. The party advocates for grassroots participation in politics, as well as more autonomy for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Early history The party had its first political candidates in 1968, and it ran candidates again in 1970. An advertisement in ''The Virgin Islands Daily News'' on June 24, 1970 listed Fabian Martinez as the party's president. The Concerned Citizens' Movement (CCM) is a Nevis-based political party in Saint Kitts and Nevis. Led by Mark Brantley, it is currently the largest party in Nevis, holding all three seats Nevisian seats in the National Assembly and three out of five seats in the Nevis Island Assembly. The Citizen and Republican Movement (French: ''Mouvement républicain et citoyen'') is a political party in France. The party replaced in 2002 the Citizens' Movement (''Mouvement des citoyens'', MDC) founded by Jean-Pierre Chevènement, who left the Socialist Party (PS) in 1993 due to his opposition to the Gulf War and to the Maastricht Treaty. It is a Eurosceptic party with leftist aspirations. Chevènement led the list ''l'autre politique'' (the Other Policy) for 1994 European Parliament election. It included members of left-wing opposition (socialist and communist candidates) to Maastricht Treaty, feminists, radicals, and Gaullists. The Geneva Citizens' Movement (french: Mouvement Citoyens Genevois), abbreviated to MCG, is a populist political party in the Canton of Geneva, Switzerland. On its own initiative, it started, and is a part of, the wider Romandy Citizens' Movement (french: Mouvement Citoyens Romand), abbreviated to MCR. Citizens' Movement for Change (french: Mouvement des Citoyens pour le Changement, MCC) is a Christian-democratic political party in the French Community of Belgium founded by Gérard Deprez in 1998. Deprez was the leader of the Francophone Christian Social Party (PSC) from 1982 to 1995. He left the PSC, because he had failed to carry through his idea of forging a confederation of the PSC with the Liberal Reformist Party (PRL). Moreover, he had been discontent with the election of Charles-Ferdinand Nothomb as party leader. The last trigger to form a new party was the popular outrage at the government's mishandling of the controversy around the pedophile serial killer Marc Dutroux. The Movement of Independent Citizens of São Tomé and Príncipe – Socialist Party (abbreviated MCI/PS; pt, Movimento de Cidadãos Independentes de São Tomé e Príncipe – Partido Socialista) is a political party on São Tomé and Príncipe founded in 2018 by António and Domingos Monteiro, who represented the Movement for the Liberation of São Tomé and Príncipe (MLSTP/PSD) in the National Assembly until May 2018. Its main base is the southernmost municipality on São Tomé, Caué. Until 2020 it was known as simply the Movement of Independent Citizens of São Tomé (MCISTP). At the 2018 parliamentary elections it got 1,659 votes and won two seats in the Caué constituency. The party only received 608 votes outside of Caué. The Civic Movement ( cs, Občanské hnutí, OH) was a liberal political party based in the Czech Republic, which existed from 1991 to 1995. The party was established after the break-up of Civic Forum by the liberal wing of Civic Forum, while the conservative wing established the Civic Democratic Party. Foreign Minister Jiří Dienstbier was elected leader of the Civic Movement. The party participated in the 1992 legislative election but failed to reach the required 5% threshold and was left without parliamentary representation. The party then renamed itself as the Free Democrats (''Svobodní demokraté'', SD), modelled on the Free Democratic Party of Germany, as the party tried to position itself as a more clearcut liberal party.
