The Circuito dos Cristais is a race track located in the Brazilian city of Curvelo, in the state of Minas Gerais. Located north from the capital Belo Horizonte, the racetrack was built according to the rules of the FIM and the FIA. Curvelo is a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is located in the geodesic centre of Minas Gerais, 170 km north of the capital, Belo Horizonte, and connected to the capital by highways MG 135 and BR 040. Its estimated population is 80,616 inhabitants (2020) and the total area of the municipality is 3,344 kmª. The city lies at an altitude of 633 metres. Felipe Giaffone (, born 22 January 1975) is a Brazilian racing driver. He competes full-time in the Copa Truck, driving the No. 4 Iveco Hi-Way for Usual Racing. He also works as a commentator for Rede Bandeirantes and BandSports. He competed in the Indy Racing League between 2001 and 2006. His father, "Zeca" Giaffone is the 1987 Stock Car Brasil champion and Mil Milhas Brasil five times winner in the 1980s. Truck racing is a form of motorsport road racing which involves modified versions of heavy tractor units on road racing or oval track circuits. History The sport started in the United States at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 17, 1979 and was the opening scene in the movie ''Smokey and the Bandit II''. Maximum race speed is restricted to 160 km/h (100 mph) for safety reasons, and a minimum weight limit is 5500 kg. Races start from a rolling start, and commonly races last from 8 to 12 laps. Although a non contact sport, due to the physical size, and closeness of trucks to one another during races, minor collisions can often occur. However, injuries to drivers are very rare.
