Cinema Of Portugal
The Cinema of Portugal started with the birth of the medium in the late 19th century. Cinema was introduced in Portugal in 1896 with the screening of foreign films and the first Portuguese film was '' Saída do Pessoal Operário da Fábrica Confiança'', made in the same year. The first movie theater opened in 1904 and the first scripted Portuguese film was '' O Rapto de Uma Actriz'' (1907). The first all-talking sound film, '' A Severa'', was made in 1931. Starting in 1933, with '' A Canção de Lisboa'', the Golden Age would last the next two decades, with films such as '' O Pátio das Cantigas'' (1942) and '' A Menina da Rádio'' (1944). João César Monteiro
João César Monteiro Santos (2 February 1939 – 3 February 2003) was a Portuguese film director, actor, writer and film critic. He is known for writing and directing films such as '' Recollections of the Yellow House'' (1989), '' God's Comedy'' (1995) and '' As Bodas de Deus'' (1999) Life and career João César Monteiro was born into a family with anti-fascist and anti-clerical ideals. His family moved to Lisbon when Monteiro was 15 years old to enable him to continue his studies. In 1963, with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Monteiro traveled to Great Britain to study at the London Film School (known then as the London School of Film Technique). Cyclorama
A cyclorama is a panoramic image on the inside of a cylindrical platform, designed to give viewers standing in the middle of the cylinder a 360° view, and also a building designed to show a panoramic image. The intended effect is to make viewers, surrounded by the panoramic image, feel as if they were standing in the midst of the place depicted in the image. Background Panoramas were invented by Irish painter Robert Barker, who wanted to find a way to capture the panoramic view from Calton Hill in central Edinburgh, Scotland. He subsequently opened his first cyclorama building in Edinburgh in 1787. Cycloramas were very popular in the late 19th century. João Salaviza (born João Salaviza Manso Feldman da Silva; 19 February 1984) is a Portuguese film director, screenwriter, editor, producer, and former actor. He is the recipient of several accolades, including the Short Film Golden Bear, the Short Film Palme d'Or, and the Un Certain Regard. Biography João Salaviza was born on 19 February 1984, in Lisbon, Portugal. His father is José Edgar Feldman, a film director, and his mother is a producer. He studied at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School and at the Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
