Leander Czerny
Leander (Franz) Czerny (4 October 1859 – 22 November 1944) was an Austrians, Austrian entomologist and priest. He was mainly interested in Diptera. Biography Czerny was born on 4 October 1859 in Modřice, Moravia. Czerny, who wrote extensively on Diptera between 1900 and 1939, describing many Genus, genera and species, was a major contributor to Erwin Lindner's ''Die Fliegen der paläarktischen Region'' ("The Flies of the Palaearctic Region"), the most significant work on the group in the 20th century. David Grimaldi (entomologist)
David A. Grimaldi (born September 22, 1957) is an entomologist and Curator of Invertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, New York, New York. He received his graduate training at Cornell University, where he earned his doctorate in Entomology in 1986. Grimaldi is an authority in many fields of insect systematics, paleontology, and evolutionary biology. Grimaldi is also an adjunct professor at Cornell University, Columbia University, and the City University of New York. Aside from numerous papers in scientific journals, Grimaldi is author of ''Amber: Window to the Past'', and of ''Evolution of the Insects'' (2005) with co-author Michael S. Engel. Johan Wilhelm Zetterstedt
Johan Wilhelm Zetterstedt (20 May 1785 – 23 December 1874) was a Sweden, Swedish Naturalism (philosophy) , naturalist who worked mainly on Diptera and Hymenoptera. Biography Zetterstedt studied at the Lund University, University of Lund, where he was a pupil of Anders Jahan Retzius. He received the title of professor in 1822 and succeeded Carl Adolph Agardh as professor of botany and practical economy in 1836, retiring as emeritus in 1853. In 1831, he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. He is best known as an entomologist. His collections of Scandinavian, Sápmi (area), Lapland and world Diptera and Orthoptera are in the Zoological Museum of the Lund University, University of Lund.
