Christopher Scott Murphy (born August 3, 1973) is an American lawyer, author, and politician serving as the junior United States senator from the state of Connecticut since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served in the United States House of Representatives, representing from 2007 to 2013. Before being elected to Congress, Murphy was a member of both chambers of the Connecticut General Assembly, serving two terms each in the Connecticut House of Representatives (1999–2003) and the Connecticut Senate (2003–2007). Murphy ran for the U.S. Senate in 2012 after long-time incumbent Joe Lieberman announced that he would retire from politics rather than seek a fifth term in office. Murphy defeated former Connecticut secretary of state Susan Bysiewicz in the Democratic primary, and subsequently defeated Republican candidate Linda McMahon for the open seat in the general election. Christopher Mark Murphy (9 November 1954 – 16 January 2021) was an Australian music and multimedia entrepreneur. He was the band manager for INXS (late 1979 to June 1995, December 2008 to November 2012) and Models (from late 1984 to mid-1987). He died on 16 January 2021, aged 66, after being diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Murphy was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia posthumously in the 2024 Australia Day Honours for "service to the performing arts through music". His father, Mark Murphy, had run a theatrical booking agency, Mark Murphy & Associates, in Wollongong since 1960. Christopher Bryce Scooby Murphy (born 25 March 1976, Perth) is an Australian male singer-songwriter who placed fourth in '' Australian Idol 2006''. Starting piano lessons at age 11, he added guitar to his list of skills and began playing in his band, 'Murphy's Lore' at the age of 16. A member of the Western Australian band ''Murphy's Lore'', he has led the group since its formation in 1993. Chris Murphy (Gaelic Footballer)
Christopher Murphy (1968 – 15 December 2024) was a Northern Irish Gaelic football coach and player. At club level he played with Castlewellan, St Paul's and Clan na Gael and was also a member of the Antrim senior football team. Murphy's club career began with Castlewellan in Down before later moving to St Paul's in Belfast. He won three Antrim SFC medals with the latter club in a four-year period. At inter-county level, Murphy was part of the Antrim team that won the Ulster U21FC title in 1989. He later lined out with the senior team. Murphy's club career also brought him to Clan na Gael in Lurgan, where he was named Player of the Year in 2003. He returned to St Paul's as a coach at underage levels. Murphy died on 15 December 2024, at the age of 56. Christopher Michael Murphy (born June 5, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). Early life and amateur career Murphy grew up in Granada Hills, California, and attended Granada Hills Charter High School. He was named the CIF Los Angeles City Section's Most Valuable Pitcher as a senior. Murphy played college baseball for the San Diego Toreros for three seasons.
