Chris Abbott (ice Hockey)
Chris Abbott (born October 24, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, who last played with HV71 of the SHL and is the current general manager of Rögle BK. His twin brother Cam Abbott, who was also a professional hockey player, is the current head coach for Rögle BK, and they played together on several teams. Playing career Born in Sarnia, Ontario, Abbott played collegiate hockey for Cornell University of the ECAC from 2002 until 2006. He turned professional in 2006-07 season, initially in the ECHL with the Stockton Thunder and Las Vegas Wranglers before establishing a role with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League. In the 2007–08 season he moved to pursue a European career and signed to play for the Frisk Asker Tigers of the Norwegian GET-ligaen. Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs were a professional ice hockey team which played in the Bossier City-Shreveport metropolitan area of Louisiana. From 1997 to 2001, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs were members of the Western Professional Hockey League, until a 2001 merger between the WPHL with the Central Hockey League. From 2001 to 2011, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs played in the Central Hockey League. From 1997 until 2000, they were known as the Shreveport Mudbugs, changing the name to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs after the team relocated from the Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport to the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City. One of the few successful sports teams from the Bossier-Shreveport area, the Mudbugs found success early. The Le Mat Trophy ( sv, Le Mat-pokalen, "Le Mat Cup") is the trophy A trophy is a tangible, durable reminder of a specific achievement, and serves as a recognition or evidence of merit. The Le Mat is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in Sweden. The trophy was donated by the founding father of ice hockey in Sweden, Raoul Le Mat, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. in 1926. 2016–17 SHL Season
The 2016–17 SHL season is the 42nd season of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). The regular season began in September 2016 and ended in March 2017. The playoffs follow the conclusion of the regular season. Rögle BK and Leksands IF were forced to play in the SHL qualifiers to defend their SHL status. Rögle won their series against BIK Karlskoga in four games while Leksand lost to Mora IK over six games. Therefore, Mora were promoted to the SHL at the expense of Leksand.
