Chojnice (PKP Station)
Chojnice railway station is a railway station serving the town of Chojnice, in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. The station opened in 1873 and is located on the Tczew–Kostrzyn railway, Działdowo–Chojnice railway, Chojnice–Runowo Pomorskie railway, Chojnice–Kościerzyna railway and Oleśnica–Chojnice railway. The train services are operated by Przewozy Regionalne and Arriva RP. History The railway reached Chojnice in 1871 as part of the Prussian Eastern Railway between Berlin, Danzig and Königsberg. At the time Chojnice only had 3,000 inhabitants. This route was chosen as it did not involve routes through any big cities. Chojnice become a hub from 15 November 1877, after construction of the line to Czluchow, extended a year later to Szczecinek. In 1883 the line from Chojnice to Tuchola was opened. Polregio (formerly ''Przewozy Regionalne'') is a train operator in Poland, responsible for local and interregional passenger transportation. Each day it runs approximately 3,000 regional trains. Prussian Eastern Railway
The Prussian Eastern Railway (german: Preußische Ostbahn) was a railway in the Kingdom of Prussia and later Germany until 1918. Its main route, approximately long, connected the capital, Berlin, with the cities of Danzig (now Gdańsk, Poland) and Königsberg (now Kaliningrad, Russia). At Eydtkuhnen (now Chernyshevskoye, Russia) it reached the German Empire's border with the Russian Empire. The first part of the line opened in 1851, reaching Eydtkuhnen in 1860. Arriva Poland Sp. z o. o. is a Polish private rail carrier providing services in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Masovian, Pomeranian and Warmian-Masurian voivodships. It is a subsidiary of Arriva. Chojnice
Chojnice (; , or ''Chòjnice''; german: Konitz or ''Conitz'') is a town in northern Poland with 39,423 inhabitants as of December 2021, near the Tuchola Forest. It is the capital of the Chojnice County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. History Piast Poland Chojnice was founded around 1205 (although the date is considered to be estimate) in Gdańsk Pomerania (Pomeralia), a duchy ruled at the time by the Samborides, who had originally been appointed governors of the province by Bolesław III Wrymouth of Poland. Gdańsk Pomerania had been part of Poland since the 10th century, with few episodes of autonomy, yet under Swietopelk II, who came into power in 1217, it gained independence in 1227.
