Chintadripet Railway Station
Chintadripet is a railway station on the Chennai MRTS line. It was opened in November 1995. It is built on the bank of Cooum River alongside Arunachala Street, opposite the new secretariat building. The station is connected with the Chennai Metro Government Estate station. The station building contains a 1150 square metres parking area in its lower level. Sub-station In 1998, a traction sub-station was established at the station to cater to the power requirement of MRTS. As per the regulations of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), the minimum monthly charges were to be based on the demand actually recorded in a month or 90 percent of the contracted demand, whichever was higher. Contracted demand for this sub-station was originally fixed at 5,200 kVA, which was subsequently reduced to 2,500 kVA with effect from February 1999. Chennai MRTS
The Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System, commonly referred to as Chennai MRTS, is a metropolitan rail transit system in Chennai, India. It is operated by Southern Railway of the state-owned Indian Railways. Opened in 1995, it was the first elevated railway line in India. The railway line runs from Chennai Beach to Velachery, covering a distance of with 18 stations and is integrated with the wider Chennai suburban railway network. While the suburban railway has been operational in Chennai since 1931, the Planning Commission of Government of India formed a research group to recommend development of transportation in major cities including Madras in 1965. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Cooum River
The Cooum River, or simply Koovam, is one of the shortest classified rivers draining into the Bay of Bengal. This river is about in length, flowing in the city of Chennai (urban part) and the rest in rural part. The river is highly polluted in the urban area (Chennai). Tamil Nadu Government Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital is a 400-bed government-owned super-speciality hospital in Chennai, India. It is located at the Omandurar Government Estate on Anna Salai and was opened in February 2014. Originally built as Tamil Nadu legislative assembly and secretariat complex in 2010 to house the assembly hall, secretariat and offices of the chief minister and cabinet ministers, the complex was later converted into a super-speciality hospital. Chennai Metro
The Chennai Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, India. Operated by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) – a joint venture between the Government of India and the State Government of Tamil Nadu, the network consists of two lines and spans . The system uses standard gauge and has 41 underground and elevated stations. Chennai Park Town Railway Station
Chennai Park Town, or just Park Town, is a railway station on the Chennai MRTS. Located just to the east of Pallavan Salai and to the south of the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in the Park Town neighbourhood of Chennai, it exclusively serves the Chennai MRTS. The station is adjacent to Chennai Park, which serves the Chennai Suburban Railway. It is also within walking distance to Chennai Central. Although within walking distance, a 1 km overhead pedestrian walkway is being planned to connect Chennai Central with the MRTS station. Velachery Railway Station
The Velachery MRTS Station is a ground level station on the Chennai MRTS railway line in Chennai. It is located near the junction of Velachery Main Road and Inner Ring Road in Velachery. The station is built on the northern banks of Pallikaranai wetland. History The station was opened on 19 November 2007. The EMU maintenance shed at the station was opened in 2008. Structure The length of the platform is 280 m. The station premises also consists of 12,250 sq m of open parking area. Chepauk Railway Station
Chepauk is a station on the Chennai MRTS railway line. It is located in the eastern Chennai neighbourhood of Chepauk near the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. The station is built on the bank of Buckingham Canal. The station was opened in November 1995 as a part of the first phase, when services were operated from Chennai Beach station to Chepauk.
