The Chinese people in Pakistan () comprise one of the country's significant expatriate communities. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has raised the expatriate population, which has grown from 20,000 in 2013 to 60,000 in 2018. Distribution Karachi During the 1940s many Chinese Muslims fled unrest in China and settled in Karachi. However the Chinese community there is primarily of non-Muslim origins; their ancestors were Buddhists, but subsequent generations follow other religions or none at all. About 30% are estimated to have converted to Islam. Islam has been practiced in China since the 7th century CE.. There are an estimated 17–25 million Muslims in China, less than 2 percent of the total population. Clifton, Karachi
Clifton is an upscale and historic seaside locality in Karachi, Pakistan. It is one of the most affluent parts of the city, home to some of Karachi's most expensive real estates. Saddar (), also known as Saddar Bazaar, is a neighbourhood in Karachi, Pakistan. The locality was developed as the primary commercial district during the period of British-era rule in Karachi. As a result, Saddar contains the large concentration of colonial-era architecture in Karachi. Tariq Road
Tariq () is an Arabic word and given name. Etymology The word is derived from the Arabic verb , ('), meaning "to strike", and into the agentive conjugated doer form , ('), meaning "striker". It became popular as a name after Tariq ibn Ziyad, a Muslim military leader who conquered Iberia in the Battle of Guadalete in 711 AD. It is also the name of a Quranic chapter. In literature and placenames Ṭariq is used in classical Arabic to refer to a visitor at night (a visitor "strikes" the house door). Due to the heat of travel in the Arabian Peninsula, visitors would generally arrive at night. Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society (PECHS), Block 2 (biggest block of PECHS) is a neighborhood in Karachi East district of Karachi, Pakistan. It was founded by Mehmood Ahmad Nizami in 1950, three years after Pakistan was founded by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Nizami lived in the same society and also createthe first house in PECHSwhere some of his descendants now live. It is considered a historical site. Language shift, also known as language transfer, language replacement or language assimilation, is the process whereby a speech community shifts to a different language, usually over an extended period of time.
