Chill (video Game)
''Chill'' is a PlayStation snowboarding video game published by Eidos Interactive in 1998 and developed by Silicon Dreams Studio. Gameplay The game features five tracks spread over five mountains, and features a two-player multiplayer mode that can be played in either vertical or horizontal split-screen mode. There are multiple routes down each mountain. Development The game's existence was first mentioned in November 1996. The title was endorsed by Burton Boards of America and was showcased at E3 1997. Eidos stated in early 1998 that they had decided against publishing the game for the PlayStation, but they nonetheless released it a few months later. A Sega Saturn version of the game was slated to be published by developer Silicon Dreams themselves, and was completed in time for its planned release date of April 1998, but in the end it was left unreleased. Silicon Dreams Studio Limited was a British video game developer based in Adderbury, England. History Silicon Dreams Studio was founded by Geoff Brown in March 1994 as the in-house development team for video game publisher U.S. Gold, also founded by Brown, and became part of the CentreGold umbrella. In April 1996, the entirety of CentreGold (including Silicon Dreams) was acquired by Eidos Interactive for . However, in December 1996, Brown re-acquired a 75% share in the Silicon Dreams label for at least , and merged it into a new, legally incorporated entity, Silicon Dreams Studio, which became a subsidiary of Geoff Brown Holdings (later renamed Kaboom Studios). History ''Power Unlimited'' started in June 1993 in Bjørn Bruinsma's basement as a new label of VNU Business Publications. With VNU's other labels being primarily free business magazines, a gaming magazine was considered a big risk that lacked a real audience. The Sega Saturn was a video game console by Sega. While Sega found success in its Sega Genesis in the early 1990s, the failure of the Sega CD and 32X hardware add-ons left them in need of moving on to new hardware. Concerned about the impending releases of Sony's first PlayStation console and Nintendo's N64, Sega rushed the Saturn to market in regions across late 1994 and 1995. While the platform performed moderately well with sales and third party support across 1995, particularly in Japan, momentum slowed in 1996 between the release of the Nintendo 64 and the cancellation of ''Sonic X-treme'', the Saturn's only planned mainline ''Sonic'' game at the time.
