Chief Of The General Staff (Vietnam)
The Chief of the General Staff (Vietnamese: Tổng tham mưu trưởng) is the chief of staff of the General Staff of the People's Army of Vietnam. The Chief of the General Staff performs the task of advising the Minister of Defense in terms of state management and military command. The Chief of the General Staff also serves ''ex officio'' as Standing Deputy Minister of Defense. He is appointed by the President of Vietnam, who is the Commander-in-Chief. ''Từ điển bách khoa Việt Nam'' (Literally ''Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Vietnam'') is a state-sponsored Vietnamese language encyclopedia that was published in Vietnam in 2005. It is the first state encyclopedia of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The compilation process began in 1987 and was completed in 2005. The first edition, published in 2005 by Vietnam's Encyclopedia Publishing House, has four volumes consisting of 40,000 entries. Arranged by Vietnamese-alphabet order, the encyclopedia covers topics from historical to child rearing. Since then, it has been converted to electronic versions (CD and ebook) and a free online version. Phùng Quang Thanh
Phùng Quang Thanh (2 February 1949 – 11 September 2021) was Vietnam's Minister of Defense from 2006 to 2016. Phùng Quang Thanh was an officer of the Vietnam People's Army and a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Enlisted in 1969, he fought in various battles during the Vietnam War and was honored with the title Hero of the People's Armed Forces in 1971 at age 22. He was appointed Minister of Defence in June 2006, succeeding General Phạm Văn Trà who had previously retired. Võ Chí Công (born Võ Toàn; 7 August 1912 – 8 September 2011) was a Vietnamese Communist politician, and the Chairman of the Council of State of Vietnam (Alternatively: President of Vietnam) between 1987 and 1992.
