Chief Of Personnel (Australia)
The Chief of Personnel (CPERS) is a three-star role within the Australian Defence Force (ADF), responsible for all members of the Australian Defence Force. The Minister of Defence, Richard Marles announced the creation of the new command following the Defence Strategic Review. The Chiefs main responsibility comes with the "distinct aim of increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and cohesiveness of personnel management to achieve a more integrated ADF". Natasha Fox
Lieutenant General Natasha Anne Fox, is a senior officer in the Australian Army. She joined the army via the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in 1988 and has spent much of her career in logistics and training roles. She served as Commanding Officer/Chief Instructor at ADFA from 2009 to 2010, and deployed on operations to Israel, Syria and Lebanon and to Afghanistan. She was Head People Capability from November 2018 to December 2021, Deputy Chief of Army from February 2022 to June 2023, and was appointed the inaugural Chief of Personnel on 5 June 2023. In the Government of Australia, the Minister for Defence Personnel is a position which is currently held by Matt Keogh, after the Albanese ministry was sworn in on 1 June 2022, following the 2022 Australian federal election. The ministerial portfolio has existed under various names since 1987. The Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) is composed of the armed forces of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Australian Defence Force (ADF), and the Australian Public Service government department, the Department of Defence which is composed of a range of civilian support organisations. The Chief of the Defence Force (CDF) leads the Australian Defence Force and the Secretary of Defence leads the Department of Defence though both jointly manage the Australian Defence Organisation under a diarchy, and both report directly to the Minister for Defence.
