The New York State Chief Administrator of the Courts (or Chief Administrative Judge of the Courts if a judge) oversees the administration and operation of the New York State Unified Court System. They are appointed by the Chief Judge of New York with the advice and consent of the Administrative Board of the Courts. Ann Pfau is an American jurist and former Chief Administrative Judge of the State of New York. Early life and education She graduated from Wells College in 1970. She later received a M.A. from Columbia University in 1973 and a J.D. from the Brooklyn Law School in 1984. Legal career Pfau began her legal career in Counsel's Office of the Office of Court Administration. She was appointed in 1997 as an Interim Judge of the New York City Civil Court and in 1998 as a Judge of the New York City Criminal Court. Jonathan Lippman (born May 19, 1945) is an American jurist who served as Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals from 2009 through 2015. He is currently Of Counsel in the Litigation & Trial Department of Latham & Watkins’ New York office. Early life and education Lippman is a Manhattan native. He attended New York City public schools, including Stuyvesant High School, graduated from New York University (NYU) in 1965, and received his J.D. degree from the New York University School of Law in 1968.
