Haymarket Affair
The Haymarket affair, also known as the Haymarket massacre, the Haymarket riot, the Haymarket Square riot, or the Haymarket Incident, was the aftermath of a bombing that took place at a labor demonstration on May 4, 1886 at Haymarket Square (Chicago), Haymarket Square in Chicago, Illinois. The rally began peacefully in support of workers striking for an eight-hour day, eight-hour work day; it was held the day after a May 3 rally at a McCormick Harvesting Machine Company plant on the West Side, Chicago, West Side of Chicago, during which two demonstrators had been killed and many demonstrators and police had been injured. Gage Park Murders
The Gage Park stabbings refers to the murders of six members of the Martinez family in 2016 in the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago in the US. On February 4, 2016, the bodies of Noe Martinez, his wife Rosaura, their son Noe Jr., their daughter Maria, and Maria's sons, Leonardo and Alexi, were discovered in the house at 5708 South California Avenue in Gage Park, Chicago, Illinois. Five of the victims were stabbed to death, and the sixth victim, Maria Martinez, was shot. On May 19, 2016, police arrested Diego Uribe, a relative of the family, and his girlfriend, Jafeth Ramos, in connection to the murders, saying that the massacre was a robbery gone wrong. On October 5, 2022, Diego Uribe was found guilty in the murders, and on November 7, 2022, he was sentenced to life in prison. On May 19, 2022, a mass shooting occurred in Chicago, Illinois, United States, in the city's Magnificent Mile shopping district, near Michigan Avenue. Two people were killed, and eight others were injured. The accused perpetrator, Jaylun Sanders, was taken into custody by Chicago police. Killing Of Zheng Shaoxiong
The murder of Zheng Shaoxiong occurred in Chicago, Illinois, United States on November 9, 2021, when Zheng Shaoxiong "Dennis", a 24-year-old graduate of the University of Chicago, was fatally shot by Alton Spann, a 19-year-old Chicago resident, on the sidewalk in the 900 block of East 54th Street in Hyde Park. Court documents say that when Spann saw Zheng, who was holding a large laptop, he and two others were driving a stolen car, and Spann used a gun to rob Zheng. The suspect shot the victim one time in the chest when the victim was struggling with the suspect and trying to escape. Killing Of Anthony Alvarez
On March 31, 2021, Anthony Alvarez, a 22-year-old Latino man, was shot and killed by a Chicago Police Department officer in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Police body camera footage of Alvarez' death was released on April 28, showing Alvarez being shot in the back while fleeing from police with a firearm in his hand. On March 29, 2021, Adam Toledo, a 13-year-old Latino American boy, was shot and killed by Chicago Police Department (CPD) officer Eric Stillman in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago at 2:38am local time. On November 19, 2018, a mass shooting took place at the Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. An attending physician at the hospital, a police officer, and a pharmacy resident were killed. Killing Of Paul O'Neal
On July 28, 2016, 18-year-old Paul O'Neal was shot in the back by Chicago Police Department officers following a grand theft auto chase. O'Neal had struck two police cars, a parked car, while operating a stolen Jaguar. Police say that O'Neal, who was unarmed, fled from the vehicle after the chase and refused to stop.
