Chennai Contract Carriage Bus Terminus
The Chennai Contract Carriage Bus Terminus or CCCBT is a bus terminus located in Chennai, in close proximity to CMBT catering to outstation private buses. It was inaugurated in August 2003. The CCCBT, spread over an area of 6.7 acres, has 68 bus bays, 126 idle parking, 51 travel agency office, 22 shops, and 14 passenger waiting halls with total seating facilities for about 120 persons. It is being maintained by CMDA. The CCCBT caters to about 5,000 passengers daily. Every day about 350 buses, about 450 on peak days, are operated to all parts of the state and to Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Development In 2010, a modernisation project aimed at decongesting the bus terminus was proposed by the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, under which 250 bus bays will be constructed. Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) (officially Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G.R. Bus Terminus) is a bus terminus located in Chennai, India, providing inter-state bus transport services. It is located on the inner-ring road (Jawaharlal Nehru Road) in Koyambedu between SAF Games Village and the Koyambedu Vegetable Market. It is the largest bus terminus in India as well as Asia. Chennai Metro Rail operates a coach depot behind the bus terminus since 2015. The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), formerly known as the Madras Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA), is the nodal planning agency of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The CMDA administers the Chennai Metropolitan Region, spread over an area of and covers the districts of Chennai, Thiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Ranipet and Kancheepuram. It was set up for the purposes of planning, co-ordination, supervising, promoting and securing the planned developmnt of the Chennai Metropolitan Area.
