Chatham railway station is on the Chatham Main Line in England, serving the town of Chatham, Kent. It is down the line from and is situated between and Gillingham. The station and most trains that call are operated by Southeastern. Following a timetable change on Sunday 20 May 2018, some trains are operated by Govia Thameslink. There are two platforms, one for each direction and both capable of accommodating 12-coach trains. There are tunnels at either end of the station: Fort Pitt Tunnel (428 yards) at the London end, and Chatham Tunnel (297 yards) at the country end. History The station was opened on 25 January 1858, when the London, Chatham and Dover Railway (LCDR) (then known as the East Kent Railway) opened a single line eastwards to Faversham. Two months later (29 March 1858) the link with the North Kent Line at Strood was opened; and the new railway reached Dover Priory in 1861. Chatham Station (Massachusetts)
Chatham station is a former railroad station located on Depot Road in Chatham, Massachusetts. In use from 1887 to 1937, it has housed the Chatham Railroad Museum since 1960. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 as Chatham Railroad Depot. History The Chatham Railroad opened between Harwich and Chatham on November 21, 1887. It was immediately leased by the Old Colony Railroad, which controlled all rail lines on Cape Cod, as its Chatham Branch. The Old Colony was leased by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in 1893. Chatham station is a -story wooden structure with a gable roof. An octagonal tower protrudes from the north side of the building, with its base serving as a trackside bay window. The site also included a freight house, engine house, car house, and toolshed. Chatham is a railway station in Chatham, New Jersey. A commuter rail station, Chatham receives rail service from statewide provider NJ Transit on its Morristown Line, a branch of the Morris & Essex Lines. Trains on the Morristown Line go to both Hoboken Terminal and New York Penn Station. History Chatham station opened on September 28, 1837 along with other stations on the Morris and Essex Railroad between Orange (at one time the western terminus of the line) and Morristown. During the beginnings of the rail in the area, Chatham was the home of a relatively well-utilised and large rail yard because of the steep grades in the surrounding area. In the early 1900s, the station was mainly used by vacationers from New York City who came to Chatham to experience what was then considered a beautiful town away from the bustling city. Union Station served the residents of Chatham, New York, from 1887 to 1972 as a passenger station and until 1976 as a freight station. It was the final stop for Harlem Line trains. It had originally served trains of the Boston and Albany Railroad, then the New York Central Railroad and the Rutland Railway. It served as a junction for service that radiated to Rensselaer, New York, to the northwest; Hudson, New York, to the southwest; Vermont, to the northeast, and Pittsfield, Massachusetts to the east and New York City, to the south. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and currently serves as a branch office of the National Union Bank of Kinderhook. Chatham Southern Railway Depot
The Chatham Southern Railway Depot is a historic train station at 340 Whitehead Street in Chatham, Virginia. Built in 1918–19 by the Southern Railway, it was a major hub of the city's economic activity until passenger service was discontinued in 1965, and freight service in 1975. The building is a long rectangular single story masonry structure, from which a polygonal tower rises on stories on the track side. It has a hipped roof with flared eaves supported by large wooden brackets. It has been owned by the Pittsylvania County Historical Society since 2001, which plans to restore the building and use it as a veterans' museum. The depot was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.
