Chase Burns
Chase David Burns (born January 16, 2003) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Tennessee Volunteers and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Burns was selected by the Reds with the second overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft and made his MLB debut in 2025. Amateur career Burns grew up in Gallatin, Tennessee and initially attended Station Camp High School. He transferred Beech Senior High School before the start of his senior year. Burns was selected in the 20th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres, but did not sign with the team. Burns entered his freshman season at Tennessee as a member of the Volunteers' starting rotation. He finished the season with a 8-2 record and 2.91 ERA with 103 strikeouts in innings pitched. Tennessee Volunteers Baseball
The Tennessee Volunteers baseball team represents the University of Tennessee in NCAA Division I college baseball. Along with most other Tennessee athletic teams, the baseball team participates in the of the Southeastern Conference. The Volunteers play all on-campus home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. The Volunteers are currently coached by three-time National Coach of the Year and one-time Southeastern Conference Baseball Coach of the Year, Tony Vitello. During Vitello's tenure, Tennessee has quickly become one of the premier programs in all of college baseball. 2024 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2024 Major League Baseball Draft took place on July 14–16, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The first six selections were set via a lottery, with first round picks belonging to the remaining lottery participants set in reverse order of regular season winning percentage. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons are the college athletics in the United States, intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Wake Forest University, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. WATE-TV (channel 6) is a television station in Knoxville, Tennessee, United States, affiliated with ABC and owned by Nexstar Media Group. The station's studios are located in the Greystone mansion on North Broadway/ SR 33/ SR 71/ US 441, and its transmitter is located on Sharp's Ridge in North Knoxville. History Channel 6 was East Tennessee's first television station, signing on the air at 8 p.m. on October 1, 1953, as WROL-TV. The race to be the first television station in the eastern part of the state was won by WROL-TV when the tower of WJHL-TV in Johnson City (ironically, now a sister station to the Knoxville station) collapsed a few months earlier.
