Chartthaipattana Party
The Chartthaipattana Party (CTPP; ) is a conservative Thai political party. It was founded on 18 April 2008 in anticipation of the 2 December 2008 Constitutional Court ruling which dissolved the Thai Nation Party and banned its executive members from participating in politics for five years beginning on that date. Numerous former members of the Thai Nation Party joined the Chartthaipattana Party, therefore, the party is considered its ''de facto'' successor. The party has a strong base in Suphan Buri Province. The first party's leader was Chumpol Silpa-archa, the younger brother of former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa, who has been banned from politics by the Constitutional Court. On 15 December 2008, the party joined the Democrat Party, forming a six-party coalition government under Abhisit Vejjajiva. Varawut Silpa-archa (; ) is a Thai politician and current Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (Thailand), Minister of Social Development and Human Security under the Srettha cabinet, coalition government of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin since 1 September 2023. The Democrat Party () is a conservative List of political parties in Thailand, Thai political party. The party is the oldest active political party in Thailand, it was founded in 1946 as a royalist party; it now upholds a Conservatism, liberal-conservative and Market economy, pro-market position. The Democrat Party made its best showings in parliament in 1948, 1976, and 1996. It has never won an outright parliamentary majority. 2023 Thai General Election
General elections were held in Thailand on 14 May 2023 to elect 500 members of the House of Representatives (Thailand), House of Representatives. The Move Forward Party, led by Pita Limjaroenrat, surprised analysts by winning the most seats, followed by fellow opposition party Pheu Thai Party, Pheu Thai who had won the most seats in the 2011 Thai general election, 2011 and 2019 Thai general election, 2019 elections. 2014 Thai General Election
Early general elections were held in Thailand on 2 February 2014 after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra requested King Bhumibol Adulyadej for the dissolution of parliament more than a year early owing to Thailand's political crisis. Voters elected a new House of Representatives, the lower house of the National Assembly. However, voting was disrupted in 69 of 375 constituencies by the political opposition that had called for a boycott. This made a voting re-run in several constituencies necessary, depending on the security situation in the affected districts and the first voting re-run date was set for 2 March. Results were expected to be announced after voting had taken place in all parts of the country. Kanchana Silpa-archa
Kanchana Silpa-archa (, ; born 15 February 1960) is a Thai politician who has served as the leader of the Chartthaipattana Party. She previously served as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education from 1999 to 2001. Early life Kanchana was born on 15 February 1960 at Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital in Suphan Buri, Thailand. Bhumjaithai Party (BJT; , ) is a major conservative populist political party in Thailand. It was founded on 5 November 2008, in anticipation of the 2 December 2008 Constitutional Court ruling that dissolved its ''de facto'' predecessor, the Neutral Democratic Party (PMT), along with the People's Power Party (PPP) and the Thai Nation Party. 2011 Thai General Election
General elections were held in Thailand on 3 July 2011 to elect the 24th House of Representatives. The protestors of the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) or " Red Shirts" who occupied downtown Bangkok in April and May 2010 had demanded new elections. The government's counter-proposal to hold elections on 14 November 2010 was rejected by them and was followed by a violent crackdown when the protestors refused to disperse. Elections were finally announced in May 2011. With a turnout of 75%, populist Pheu Thai Party won a majority with 265 seats.
