Charlie The Dog
Charlie Dog (also known as Rover, Charlie, and sometimes Charles the Dog) is an Animation, animated cartoon character in the Warner Brothers ''Looney Tunes'' series of cartoons. The character was featured in nine cartoons between 1941 and 1958. He is generally characterized as a wise-guy type. Development Bob Clampett minted the scenario that Charlie Dog would later inherit in his cartoon short ''Porky's Pooch'', first released on 27 December 1941. In that cartoon, a homeless hound pulls out all the stops to get adopted by bachelor Porky Pig. Mel Blanc provided the dog's gruff, Brooklyn-Bugs Bunny-like voice and accent which became Charlie's standard voice. The Pointer, sometimes called the English Pointer, is a medium-sized breed of pointing dog developed in England. Pointers are used to find game for hunters, and are considered by gundog enthusiasts to be one of the finest breeds of its type; however, unlike most other hunting breeds, its purpose is to point, not retrieve game. The popular belief is that the Pointer descends from the Old Spanish Pointer that was brought to England from Spain with returning soldiers at the beginning of the 18th century. Once in England, they were crossed with local dog breeds to improve the breed's hunting abilities. A Hound For Trouble
''A Hound For Trouble'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon short directed by Chuck Jones. The cartoon was released on April 28, 1951, and features Charlie Dog. The film has Charlie attempt to take over a restaurant in Pisa, while its owner is on a short break. Charlie's behavior drives away a customer. The restaurant's owner eventually seems to accept Charlie as a partner, but he actually uses the dog's newfound trust to fool him. Plot After being found on a shipping boat in the coast of Italy, Charlie is found by the ship's owner (who thought he kicked him off earlier) and is kicked off (again).
