Charles Donnelly (poet)
Charles Patrick Donnelly (10 July 1914 – 27 February 1937) was an Irish poet, republican and left wing political activist. He was killed fighting on the republican side during the Spanish Civil War. Early life Born in Killybrackey, near Dungannon, County Tyrone on 10 July 1914 into a family of cattle breeders. His father, Joseph Donnelly sold his farm in 1917 and the family moved to Dundalk and opened a greengrocer's shop. Joseph Donnelly became quite prosperous, running his shop, dealing cattle and buying and selling property in the Dundalk area. In addition to Charles, the Donnellys had five other sons and two daughters. Charles' mother, Rose, died in 1927, when he was 13 years old. Charles Donnelly received his early education in the Christian Brothers school in Dundalk. When he was 14 in 1928, the family moved again, this time to Dublin, where Joseph bought a house on Mountjoy Square in the north inner city. Charles Donnelly (November 9, 1869 – September 4, 1939) was president of Northern Pacific Railway 1920–1939. Biography He was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, on November 9, 1869, the son of Thomas F. and Catherine Corwin. He married Berthania McMichael on November 6, 1894. He was educated at Georgetown University, graduating with an LL.B. in 1896, after which he began his law practice in Washington, D.C. In 1903 Donnelly became division counsel for the Northern Pacific Railway, having an office in Helena, Montana. He held this position until 1908 when he was promoted to assistant general counsel based in St. Paul, Minnesota Saint Paul (often abbreviated St. Paul) is the capital city of the U.S. state of Minnesota and the county seat of Ramsey County. Charley Donnelly
Charles Francis Donnelly (February 4, 1885 – May 1967) was an American educator, golfer, and college football and golf coach. He served as the head football coach at Maryland Agricultural College—now known as the University of Maryland, College Park—in 1911 and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1913. Donnelly was also the head golf coach at the College of the Holy Cross from 1934 to 1948. Life and career A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, Charley was the third child of John and Mary Ellen (Corcoran) Donnelly and the younger brother of James C. Donnelly, a standout football player and coach. His youngest brother, Ralph E. Donnelly, was also a notable football player and war hero. Charlie Donnelly (born 2 June 1983) is an Irish former racing driver who won the 2005 Formula Ford Great Britain championship. Career Donnelly was born in Naas, Ireland. He began racing in karting, and in September 2001 was named Irish motorsport's "Young Racing Driver of the Month". He moved into racing Formula Ford in 2002, competing in four races in the UK Zetec Championship at Mondello Park and Donington Park. His best finish was 9th, and scored 23 points in the championship. For 2003, he competed in the scholarship class of Formula Ford Great Britain, and won one race and scored six podiums on the way to 6th place in the championship for ComTec Racing. For 2004, he moved into the new Mygale SJ04 chassis with Jamun Racing and won four races, scored his first pole and two fastest laps.
