Channel I
Channel i () is a Bangladeshi Bengali-language satellite and cable television channel owned by Impress Group. It was launched on 1 October 1999, as Bangladesh's first digital television channel. It is one of the oldest satellite television channels in Bangladesh. Channel i is broadcast via satellite television using PanAmSat and Bangabandhu-1, covering most of Asia and parts of Australia. It is sister to the radio station, Radio Bhumi. History Prior to the establishment of the channel, Faridur Reza Sagar established Impress Telefilm, which initially produced small-mini series and one-off shows for state-owned Bangladesh Television. Channel i began broadcasting on 1 October 1999 from a small building in the Siddheshwari neighborhood of Dhaka, with the "Hridoye Bangladesh" (হৃদয়ে বাংলাদেশ; ) slogan, which is still used as of today. 1080i
In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Each of these lines contributes to the overall detail and clarity of the image. The letter "i" stands for Interlaced video, interlaced. This is a technique where the image is not displayed all at once. Instead, the frame is split into two fields. One field contains the odd-numbered lines, and the other field contains the even-numbered lines. Samakal
''Samakal'' () is a Bengali-language daily newspaper published in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The paper is owned by Ha-Meem Group. It began publication in 2005. Golam Sarwar was the editor of the paper from its launch until his death in 2018. In 2020, Samakal had a circulation of 270,000, which made it the eighth most widely read newspaper in the country. Over the years, the paper's writers have included Ajoy Dasgupta, Abed Khan, Mizanur Rahman Khan, and Khalil Rahman. Gautam Das, the paper's Faridpur bureau chief, was murdered in November 2005 by junior Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) politicians after reporting on corruption in the party. Standard-definition television (SDTV; also standard definition or SD) is a television system that uses a resolution that is not considered to be either high or enhanced definition. ''Standard'' refers to offering a similar resolution to the analog broadcast systems used when it was introduced. BBC Bangla () is the Bengali language service of the BBC World Service, inaugurated in 1941 for Bengali audiences worldwide especially the ones in the Bengal region, which includes the sovereign state of Bangladesh and the Indian states of West Bengal and Tripura. History BBC Bangla was launched on 11 October 1941 with a 15-minute programme under the BBC World Service. BBC Bangla's headquarters used to be Bush House, but since 2012, it has been broadcast from Broadcasting House in London as well as from BBC bureaux in Dhaka and Kolkata. In September 2022, BBC Bangla announced its cessation of radio broadcasts due to financial reasons.
