Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat
Louis Alexandre Auguste Chevrolat (29 March 1799, Paris – 16 December 1884, Paris) was a French entomologist. He specialized mainly on the beetles and was a founder of the Societe entomologique de France in 1832. Chevrolat worked as a toll administrator in government service in Paris. He was an amateur entomologist who studied mainly beetles and birds. He published nearly 250 notes and papers and was the Species description, author of more than 2,000 species. He was one of the founders of the Société entomologique de France in 1832. On his death, his collection was dispersed. Part of his collection is now in the Natural History Museum in London along with some manuscripts. Works (Selection) * 1833a. Description de Buprestis analis. ''Magasin de Zoologie'' 1833. Leaf Beetle
The beetle family Chrysomelidae, commonly known as leaf beetles, includes over 37,000 (and probably at least 50,000) species in more than 2,500 genera, making it one of the largest and most commonly encountered of all beetle families. Numerous subfamilies are recognized, but the precise taxonomy and systematics are likely to change with ongoing research. Leaf beetles are partially recognizable by their tarsal formula, which appears to be 4-4-4, but is actually 5-5-5 as the fourth tarsal segment is very small and hidden by the third. As with many taxa, no single character defines Chrysomelidae; instead, the family is delineated by a set of characters. Some lineages are only distinguished with difficulty from longhorn beetles (family Cerambycidae), namely by the antennae not arising from frontal tubercles. Members of former chrysomelid subfamilies ( Orsodacnidae and Megalopodidae) are also difficult to differentiate from true chrysomelids. Adult and larval leaf beetles feed o ...

Neotropical Realm
The Neotropical realm is one of the eight biogeographic realms constituting Earth's land surface. Physically, it includes the tropics, tropical Ecoregion#Terrestrial, terrestrial ecoregions of the Americas and the entire South American temperate climate, temperate zone. Definition In biogeography, the Neotropic or Neotropical realm is one of the eight terrestrial realms. This realm includes South America, Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and southern North America. In Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula and southern lowlands, and most of the east and west coastlines, including the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula are Neotropical. In the United States southern Florida and coastal Central Florida are considered Neotropical. The realm also includes temperate southern South America. In contrast, the Neotropical Phytochorion, Floristic Kingdom excludes southernmost South America, which instead is placed in the Antarctic Floristic Kingdom, Antarctic kingdom. The Neo ...

Cerotoma Trifurcata
''Cerotoma trifurcata'' (also known as the bean leaf beetle) is a species of beetle in the Chrysomelidae family that can be found in the Eastern and West United States. Previously considered a minor pest, the past 30 years have seen an increase in population abundance. It has spread from its native region of the Mississippi Delta into the American Midwest and Canada. ''C. trifurcata'' prefers soybeans as a host, but it has been found on alfalfa, cowpea, snap beans, and cucurbits. It damages crops due to pod damage and being a vector for bean pod mottle virus. The beetle exhibits overwintering behaviors. Overwintering is associated with mating behavior and regulates when the beetle lays its eggs. Description Adults Adult beetles are in length, and have a punctuated elytra at their posterior region. Morphs can have colors ranging from light gray to shades of yellow, brown, orange, or red. The elytra has a black triangle in the middle behind the thorax and typically has six ...

Galerucinae
The Galerucinae are a large subfamily of the leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae), containing about 15,000 species in more than 1000 genera, of which about 500 genera and about 8000 species make up the flea beetle tribe Alticini. The division into tribes is more a matter of tradition than based on modern research. Some genera, for example '' Yingaresca'', are better considered ''incertae sedis'' due to a general lack of knowledge. And while a good case can be made for some tribes – namely the Alticini and Galerucini – being all but monophyletic even in their traditional delimitation, others, such as Luperini, appear to be just paraphyletic assemblages of primitive and more basal genera. Some classifications of Galerucinae include just two tribes, Alticini and Galerucini, and treat all of the tribes of Galerucinae ''sensu stricto'' (Decarthrocerini, Galerucini, Hylaspini, Luperini, Metacyclini and Oidini) as subtribes of Galerucini. Selected genera * '' Acalymma'' * ' ...
