The Atlantic Center for Modern Art () (CAAM) is a contemporary art museum in the Canary Islands, Spain. It is in Vegueta in Las Palmas, the capital city of Gran Canaria. The building was designed by the architect Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza, retaining the Facade (Architecture), façade of two older Neoclassical architecture, neoclassical houses. It was opened on 4 December 1989, initially to house the collections of Canarian art of the island council, the Cabildo insular, Cabildo Insular de Gran Canaria. Collection CAAM has a permanent collection of over 2600 works, many of them from the Americas, Africa and Europe, reflecting the influence of the culture of three continents on the Canarian archipelago. José María Sicilia (born 1954) is a Spanish abstractionist painter who currently resides in Paris and Sóller. Background Sicilia was born in Madrid and grew up in Francoist Spain. He spent his holidays in the monastery town of Escorial near the Sierra de Guadarrama. In 1975 he joined the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. In 1980 he moved to Paris, where he first exhibited, and in 1985 he relocated to New York, where he became a close friend of the composer John Cage. Jiri () is a municipality in Dolakha District in the Bagmati Province of central Nepal. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 13,638 people. Andreas Schulze (born 1955) is a German painter. Early life and education Schulze was born in Hanover. From 1978 through 1983, Schulze attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where he studied under the painter Dieter Krieg. Career and work Andreas Schulze first began showing alongside neo-expressionist artists in the 1980s, although his work was considerably less gestural than that of his contemporaries. Cristina Iglesias (born 1956) is a Spanish installation artist and sculptor living and working in Torrelodones, Madrid. She works with many materials, including steel, water, glass, bronze, bamboo, straw. On January 20, 2016, she was awarded the Tambor del Oro in San Sebastian.
