Centrepoint (TV Series)
''Centrepoint'' is a four-part British television thriller, written by Nigel Williams and directed by Piers Haggard, first broadcast on Channel 4 on 8 October 1990. The series, which loosely retells the story of '' Hamlet'', is set in London's Docklands at the time of its commercial development, and stars Jonathan Firth as Roland Wareing, whose father Nick has been missing for several years, presumed dead. However, when a mysterious telephone caller suggests that Nick may not be dead after all, Roland sets out to discover the truth behind the disappearance. The series initially broadcast at 10:00pm on Mondays for four consecutive weeks, although was later re-edited from four episodes into two and rebroadcast on 9 and 16 May 1992. Thriller (genre)
Thriller is a genre of fiction, having numerous, often overlapping subgenres. Thrillers are characterized and defined by the moods they elicit, giving viewers heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety. Successful examples of thrillers are the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Thrillers generally keep the audience on the "edge of their seats" as the plot builds towards a climax. The cover-up of important information is a common element. Literary devices such as red herrings, plot twists, unreliable narrators, and cliffhangers are used extensively. ''The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark'', often shortened to ''Hamlet'' (), is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare sometime between 1599 and 1601. It is Shakespeare's longest play, with 29,551 words. Set in Denmark, the play depicts Prince Hamlet and his attempts to exact revenge against his uncle, Claudius, who has murdered Hamlet's father in order to seize his throne and marry Hamlet's mother. ''Hamlet'' is considered among the "most powerful and influential tragedies in the English language", with a story capable of "seemingly endless retelling and adaptation by others". Adrian Dunbar
Adrian Dunbar (born 1 August 1958) is a Northern Irish actor, director and singer, known for his television and his theatre work. Dunbar co-wrote and starred in the 1991 film ''Hear My Song'', nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the BAFTA awards. He is also known for playing 'Ted Hastings' in the BBC show ''Line Of Duty''. Since 2012, he has played Superintendent Ted Hastings in all six series of BBC Television's ''Line of Duty''. Derrick O'Connor
Derrick O'Connor (3 January 1941 – 29 June 2018) was an Irish theatre and character actor. O'Connor was best known for his performance as South African mercenary Pieter Vorstedt in ''Lethal Weapon 2'' and for his roles in three Terry Gilliam films. He starred as Jack Stone in the British police drama series '' The Professionals'' episode "You'll be Alright".Another role was that of Peter Morgan in the series ''Crown Court'' (1976). Nigel Williams (born 20 January 1948) is an English novelist, screenwriter and playwright. Biography Williams was born in Cheadle, Cheshire.
