The Centre des livres d'artistes - CDLA (Center for Artist's Books) is a regional institution dedicated to the artist's book since 1994 in Limousin, located in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, 40 km southwest of Limoges Mission The Centre des livres d'artistes serves both as a repository for a significant collection of artist's books in terms of quantity and quality, as well as an exhibition space. It is the only place in France that permanently showcases this type of publication. Since 2005, the CDLA has been located in a building in the historic center of the city, with three exhibition rooms, a space for the presentation of videos and audio documents, a storage area for the collection, a room for educational activities, and offices. Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche
Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche (; oc, link=no, Sent Iriès, ) is a commune in the Haute-Vienne department, region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France. It is significant as the first place where kaolin was found in France, a discovery of great importance to French porcelain manufacturers. Its name refers to Saint Yrieix (Aredius). Irma Blank
Irma Blank (1934 – 14 April 2023) was a German-born Italian artist. Her work, based on printed text that she transcribed in ink, has been described as "drawing languages without words" and thus "a form of communication beyond specific language", including sounds. Life and work Blank was born in Celle, Lower Saxony. In 1955, age 20 and inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Italian Journey, she traveled to Syracuse, Sicily. Having made the decision to settle in Italy for good, Blank started working as a high school teacher, focusing on her own art at night. In 1973 Blank moved to Milan, where she met with the concrete poetry artists and introduced language into her prints and paintings. Richard Nonas
Richard Nonas (January 3, 1936 – May 11, 2021) was an American anthropologist and post-minimalist sculptor. He lived and worked in New York City. Education Nonas was educated in literature and anthropology at University of Michigan, Lafayette College, Columbia University, and the University of North Carolina. He followed this with field-work studies on Native American sites in Northern Ontario, Canada, and in Northern Mexico and Southern Arizona before becoming a sculptor. Work Nonas' Post-minimalist sculptural practice addressed notions of space, place, and deep time. His work from the 1970s involves experimentation with modes of presentation as well as material experimentation in which he used granite curbstones, linear wooden beams, and other raw materials. Olaf Nicolai
Olaf Nicolai (born 1962 in Halle an der Saale) is a German conceptual artist. Life Olaf Nicolai grew up in Chemnitz (formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt) in the German Democratic Republic. From 1983 to 1988 he studied German language and literature at the universities of Leipzig, Vienna and Budapest, in 1992 obtaining a doctorate from Leipzig University. His thesis concerned the '' Poetics of the Wiener Gruppe'', exploring the means of expression used and their strategic implementation. There exists a close relation between this group's work and his own artistic endeavours. Nicolai also holds a diploma in applied arts from the Technical College at Schneeberg in Saxony. His works were shown at documenta in 1997 and at the Venice Biennale in 2001, 2005 and 2015. Richard Long (artist)
Sir Richard Julian Long, (born 2 June 1945) is an English sculptor and one of the best-known British land artists. Long is the only artist to have been short-listed four times for the Turner Prize. He was nominated in 1984, 1987 and 1988, and then won the award in 1989 for ''White Water Line''. He lives and works in Bristol, the city in which he was born. Long studied at Saint Martin's School of Art before going on to create work using various media including sculpture, photography and text. Hamish Fulton
Hamish Fulton (born 1946) is an English walking artist. Since 1972 he has only made works based on the experience of walks. He translates his walks into a variety of media, including photography, illustrations, and wall texts. His work is contained in major museums collections, such as the Tate Britain and MoMA. Since 1994 he has been creating group walks for the public. Fulton argues that 'walking is an artform in its own right' and argues for wider acknowledgement of walking art. Claude Closky (born 22 May 1963) is a French Contemporary Artist who lives and works in Paris, France. Reception Closky won the "Grand prix des Arts plastiques" (1999) and the Marcel Duchamp Prize (2005) awarded by the ADIAF.
