Central Post Office (Kyiv)
The Central Post Office ( uk, Головпоштамт, translit=Holovposhtamt) in Kyiv, Ukraine, is located in Maidan Nezalezhnosti. It houses Ukrposhta, Ukraine's national postal service, and includes offices and a 24-hour internet café on the upper floors. The building was completed in 1958, and underwent a renovation during the 1990s. History Construction for a new post office began in 1914, was halted by World War I, and was eventually completed in 1941. It was deliberately destroyed later that year by Soviet forces in an explosion during the , once Nazi forces had entered the city following the Red Army's retreat. Khreshchatyk ( uk, Хрещатик, ) is the main street of Kyiv, Ukraine. The street has a length of . It stretches from the European Square (northeast) through the Maidan and to Bessarabska Square (southwest) where the Besarabsky Market is located. Along the street are the offices of the Kyiv City Council which contains both the city's council and the state administration, the Main Post Office, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Central Department Store (TsUM), the Ukrainian House, and others. Parapet
A parapet is a barrier that is an extension of the wall at the edge of a roof, terrace, balcony, walkway or other structure. 2022 Crimean Bridge Explosion
On 8 October 2022, at 6:07 am, a fire broke out on the Crimean Bridge as a result of an explosion, which occurred on the road bridge, on or under the westbound vehicle lanes running from Russia to Kerch in occupied Crimea. Two two-lane vehicular spans of the bridge collapsed into the water. Two adjacent eastbound lanes on independent structure survived. The railway bridge was also significantly damaged by fire on railway tanker cars. Four people were killed and the Investigative Committee of Russia started an investigation. The damage reduced the transport capacity of the bridge, which is being used to supply Russian troops in occupied Crimea during the invasion of Ukraine. The explosion occurred the day after the 70th birthday of Russian President Vladimir Putin and one week after the announcement of the annexation of four Ukrainian regions by Russia. Sinking Of The Moskva
The Russian warship ''Moskva'', the flagship of the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet, sank on 14 April 2022 during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian officials said that their forces damaged the ship with two R-360 Neptune anti-ship missiles, and there was a fire, information which was later confirmed by the United States Department of Defense. Russia reported the ship sank in stormy seas after the fire caused munitions to explode.
