Central High School (Columbus, Ohio)
Central High School, also known as High School of Columbus and High School of Commerce, was a four-year secondary school (grades 9–12) located in Franklinton, Columbus, Ohio. It was a part of Columbus City Schools (at the time Columbus Public Schools). On March 7, 1985, the 1924 school building was added to the National Register of Historic Places. It is considered part of the Columbus Civic Center Historic District. History Central High School dates to the earliest high school education in Columbus. In its 1862 building and in prior homes, it was known as Columbus High School, and was the only high school in the city. From 1862 to c. 1928, Central High School was located at East Broad and Sixth Street, current site of the Capital University Law School. Robert George Kline unior(December 9, 1909 – March 16, 1987) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for three teams between the 1930 and 1934 seasons. Listed at 6' 3", 200 lb., Kline batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Enterprise, Ohio. "Carmen Ohio" (Latin: Song of Ohio) is the oldest school song still used by The Ohio State University. The song was composed originally as a Christian Hymn in Dutch: "Vaste rots van mijn behiud als de zonde mij benauwed," and in America: "Come, Christians join and sing," both sung in Church. Later adapted by freshman athlete and Men's Glee Club member Fred Cornell in 1902 or 1903. According to some accounts, he composed it on the train ride home from Ann Arbor, Michigan after Ohio State suffered an 86-0 loss to the Michigan Wolverines. The song is set to the tune of "Spanish Hymn", or "Spanish Chant". The International League (IL) is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in the United States. Along with the Pacific Coast League, it is one of two leagues playing at the Triple-A (baseball), Triple-A level, which is one grade below Major League Baseball (MLB).
