Cecilia Offiong
Cecilia Otu Offiong-Akpan (born 13 June 1986 in Calabar, Cross River) is a Nigerian table tennis player. She won two gold medals, along with her partner Offiong Edem, in the women's doubles at the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria, and at the 2011 All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique. As of February 2013, Offiong is ranked no. 452 in the world by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). She is a member of the table tennis team for Calabar Sports Club, and is coached and trained by Obisanya Babatunde. Offiong is also right-handed, and uses the shakehand grip. Offiong made her official debut, as an 18-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she competed in both singles and doubles tournaments. Calabar
Calabar (also referred to as Callabar, Calabari, Calbari and Kalabar) is the capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria. It was originally named Akwa Akpa, in the Efik language. Miao Miao () (born 14 January 1981, Tianjin, China) is an Australian table tennis player who represented Australia at the Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London Olympic Games. Her best Olympic result was the quarter finals of the doubles tournament in Sydney. At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, she won a silver medal in the teams competition and a bronze medal in the doubles with Jian Fang Lay. The women's singles table tennis event was a part of the table tennis program at the 2008 Summer Olympics and took place at the Peking University Gymnasium. The tournament started on August 18 with the final on August 22. 78 athletes from 42 countries took part in the women's single event. Table Tennis At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Team
The women's team table tennis event was part of the table tennis programme and took place between August 13 and 17 at the Peking University Gymnasium. Teams consisted of three members. The sixteen teams were divided into four groups of four teams each, playing a round-robin within their pool. The top team in each pool advanced to the semifinals, with the second-place team from each group going to the bronze medal playoffs. The two semifinal winners met in the gold medal match, while the two semifinal losers each played against one of the winners from the bronze medal playoffs, with the winners of those games meeting in the bronze medal match. Each match consisted of up to five games, with the first team to win three being declared the winner. Bose Kaffo
Bose Kaffo (born 14 November 1972 in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria) is a Nigerian professional table tennis player who competed at five Olympics from 1992 to 2008. She is the second Nigerian woman to compete at five Olympics, after sprinter Mary Onyali. This feat was also achieved in 2008 by fellow table tennis player Segun Toriola. By the end of the 2008 Summer Olympics, only thirteen table tennis players worldwide had appeared at least five Olympics. Her doubles partners at the Olympics were Abiola Odumosu in 1992 and Olufunke Oshonaike from 1996 to 2004. Olufunke Oshonaike
Olufunke Oshonaike, also known as Funke Oshonaike (born 28 April 1974) is a professional Nigeria table tennis player based in Hamburg, Germany. She competed for Nigeria at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Oshonaike started her playing career on a street called Akeju Street in Shomolu, Lagos, in the early 1980s while very young. She was a spectacle each time she played because she was very small and used to amaze people with her skill at that early age.
