Michael Cavenagh Gillett
Sir Michael Cavenagh Gillett KBE CMG (12 July 1907 – 20 January 1971) was a British diplomat. Education Gillett was educated at the Royal Naval College, Osborne and Royal Navy College, Dartmouth and then at Manchester University. Career in China Gillett was appointed a student interpreter in the British China Consular Service in January 1929 and served as Vice-Consul in Canton (now Guangzhou), Hankow, Nanking and Kashgar. He was promoted to the rank of Consul in 1937 and was Acting Consul General in Kashgar from June 1938 and Acting Consul at Tengyueh (now Tengchong) from 1940 to 1942. He served as Chinese Secretary to the Legation in Chunking (now Chongqing) in 1942 and then transferred back to Kashgar in that year. Alastair Mark Cavenagh (born 1964) is a Kenyan-based rally driver and entrepreneur born in Wales, Great Britain. He drives in the Safari Rally occasionally, including a second-place finish in 2009, when it was an IRC IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a text-based chat system for instant messaging. George Cavenagh
George Cavenagh (16 June 1836 – 23 November 1922) was an Australian cricketer who played one first-class match for Victoria in 1854. Life and career Cavenagh was born in Sydney, and his family moved to Melbourne in 1840 when his father, also George Cavenagh, founded the '' Port Phillip Herald''. Young George worked for the Bank of Australasia for 44 years, managing the Portland branch from 1864 to 1877. He was secretary to the Associated Banks for 14 years. An all-rounder, Cavenagh made a single first-class cricket appearance for Victoria, against Tasmania in March 1854. He was the highest scorer in the low-scoring match, making 35 and 10, and also took 5 for 46 and 1 for 17. Tasmania nevertheless won by eight wickets. Cavenagh married Maria Loader Stodart in Melbourne in January 1862. Orfeur Cavenagh
General Sir Orfeur Cavenagh (8 October 1820 – 3 July 1891) was the last Governor of the Straits Settlements to be appointed by the East India Company, governing from 1859 to 1867 under the India Office. Family background Cavenagh was the third son of James Gordon Cavenagh and Ann née Coates. Career Cavenagh trained at Addiscombe Military Seminary, the military academy of the British East India Company. He passed his examination in June 1837, and in early 1838 joined the 32nd Regiment Native Infantry. In 1840, he passed the prescribed examination at Fort William College, Calcutta. He was appointed interpreter and quartermaster to the 41st Regiment Native Infantry.
