Catherine Byrne (Irish Politician)
Catherine Byrne (born 26 February 1956) is an Irish former Fine Gael politician who served as a Minister of State (Ireland), Minister of State from 2016 to 2020 and Lord Mayor of Dublin from 2005 to 2006. She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-Central (Dáil constituency), Dublin South-Central constituency from 2007 to 2020. Political career Byrne stood unsuccessfully as a candidate at the 2002 Irish general election, 2002 general election, she was elected on her next attempt at the 2007 Irish general election, 2007 general election. She was a member of Dublin City Council for the South West Inner City local electoral area. She served for a term as Lord Mayor of Dublin in 2005. Genealogical Office
The Genealogical Office is an office of the Government of Ireland containing genealogical records. It includes the Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland (), the authority in Ireland for heraldry. The Chief Herald authorises the granting of arms to Irish bodies and Irish people, including descendants of emigrants. The office was constituted on 1 April 1943 as successor to the Ulster King of Arms, established during the Tudor period of the Kingdom of Ireland in 1552. The Ulster King of Arms' duties in relation to Northern Ireland were taken over by the Norroy and Ulster King of Arms. The Genealogical Office was based in Dublin Castle until 1981. It was made part of the Department of Education in 1943. All Hallows College
All Hallows College was a college of higher education in Dublin. It was founded in 1842 and was run by the Vincentians from 1892 until 2016. On 23 May 2014, it was announced that it was closing because of declining student enrollment.
