Castle Bruce is a parliamentary electoral district in Dominica. It includes the areas of Castle Bruce, Good Hope, Dominica, Good Hope, Petit Soufrière, Dominica, Petite Soufrière, and San Sauveur. It came into effect in time for the 1975 Dominican general election. It has been represented by Octavia Alfred of the Dominica Labour Party since the 2019 Dominican general election, 2019 general election. House Of Assembly Of Dominica
The House of Assembly is the legislature of Dominica. It is established by Chapter III of the Constitution of Dominica, and together with the President of Dominica constitutes Dominica's Parliament. The House is unicameral, and consists of twenty-one Representatives, nine senators, and the Attorney General as an ''ex officio'' member. The List of Speakers of the House of Assembly of Dominica, Speaker of the House becomes the thirty-second member if chosen from outside the membership of the House. Representatives are directly elected in single-member Constituencies of Dominica, constituencies using the simple-majority (or first-past-the-post) system for a term of five years. The Representatives in turn decide whether the senators are to be elected by their vote, or appointed. Loreen Ruth Bannis-Roberts (born 19 September 1966) is a politician, businesswoman and diplomat from the Commonwealth of Dominica. General elections were held in Dominica on 5 May 2005. The result was a victory for the ruling Dominica Labour Party, which won 12 of the 21 seats in the House of Assembly of Dominica, House of Assembly. The United Workers' Party is a centrist political party in Dominica. As of the 2022 general election, the party is not represented in the House of Assembly of Dominica, after boycotting the general election. The past Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly is Lennox Linton. The United Workers' Party with less than 34% of the votes was the majority party in Dominica's parliament from 1995 until 2000, led by party co-founder Edison James as Prime Minister of Dominica. General elections were held in Dominica on 31 January 2000 and saw the Dominica Labour Party led by Rosie Douglas take power defeating the previous government of the United Workers' Party led by Edison James, despite the UWP receiving more votes. The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) is a conservative political party in Dominica. It shares much of the same socially and economically conservative principles as the Conservative Party in the UK. The party has been led by Bernard Hurtault since 2021. History The founders of Dominica Freedom Party in 1968 included Eugenia Charles, Elkin Henry, Anthony Moise, Eustace Francis, Robert Allfrey, Phyllis Allfrey, E. C.
