Casablanca (1983 TV Series)
''Casablanca'' is an American drama series, based on the 1942 film of the same name set in the genre of spying and intrigue during World War II. Five episodes were filmed but, following its NBC premiere on April 10, 1983, and two additional installments on April 17 and 24, it was taken off the air. The two remaining unaired episodes were ultimately scheduled four months later, during summer programming, and shown on August 27 and September 3. The show was the second attempt at a TV series based on the movie; the first was a 1955 show starring Charles McGraw as Rick Blaine, which also was short-lived, lasting only 10 episodes.Hyatt, Wesley. David Soul
David Soul (born David Richard Solberg; August 28, 1943 – January 4, 2024) was an American-British actor and singer. With a career spanning five decades, he rose to prominence for portraying Detective Kenneth "Hutch" Hutchinson in the American television series ''Starsky & Hutch'' from 1975 to 1979. His other notable roles included Joshua Bolt on '' Here Come the Brides'' from 1968 to 1970 and as the lead actor in the 1979 American TV movie '' Salem's Lot.'' Soul also portrayed Officer John Davis in the 1973 movie '' Magnum Force''. During his career, Soul also found success as a singer, achieving a number one single on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1977 with " Don't Give Up on Us", which also peaked at number one in the United Kingdom and Canada. 16th Academy Awards
The 16th Academy Awards were held on March 2, 1944, to honor the films of 1943. This was the first Oscar ceremony held at a large public venue, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and the first ceremony without a banquet as part of the festivities. The ceremony was broadcast locally on KFWB, and internationally by CBS Radio via shortwave. Jack Benny hosted the event, which lasted one hour and 42 minutes. This was the first ceremony to welcome admissions from the general public. Hans Walter Conrad Veidt ( , ; 22 January 1893 – 3 April 1943) was a German and British actor. He attracted early attention for his roles in the films ''Different from the Others'' (1919), ''The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'' (1920), and ''The Man Who Laughs (1928 film), The Man Who Laughs'' (1928). After a successful career in German silent films, where he was one of the best-paid stars of UFA GmbH, UFA, Veidt and his new Jewish wife Ilona Prager left Germany in 1933 after the Nazis came to power. Szőke Szakáll (born Jakab Grünwald, other names: Gärtner Sándor and Gerő Jenő; February 2, 1883 February 12, 1955), known in the English-speaking world as S. Z. Sakall, was a Hungarian-American stage and film character actor. Arthur "Dooley" Wilson (April 3, 1886 – May 30, 1953) was an American actor, singer and musician who is best remembered for his portrayal of Sam in the 1942 film ''Casablanca (film), Casablanca''.
