Casablanca (, ) is the largest city in Morocco and the country's economic and business centre. Casablanca-Settat () is one of the twelve administrative regions of Morocco. It covers an area of 20,166 km2 and recorded a population of 7,688,967 in th2024 Moroccan census 69% of which lived in urban areas. The capital of the region is Casablanca. Geography Casablanca-Settat is located on the Atlantic coast. It borders the regions of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra to the northeast, Béni Mellal-Khénifra to the southeast, and Marrakesh-Safi to the south. Part of the border with Marrakesh-Safi follows the course of the Oum Er-Rbia River, which flows northwest and empties into the Atlantic at Azemmour. Nabila Rmili
Nabila Rmili (; born 5 June 1974) is a Moroccan physician and National Rally of Independents (RNI) politician. In September 2021, she was elected as the mayor of Casablanca. Early life and education She has enrolled in the University of Casablanca from where she graduated from the faculty of medicine. Following her graduation she worked as a medical doctor in Ouzzane between 2002 and 2005. She was leading the health department for the youth in Anfa between 2006 and 2010. As a medical doctor, she was the health delegate for the ministry of health for the Ben M'sik between 2010 and 2014 and assumed the same post for Anfa between 2014 and 2017. From 2017 she acts as the general director for health for the region Casablanca Settat. The Casablanca Twin Center () is a complex of two skyscrapers located at Casablanca, Morocco. The two structures, the ''West Tower'' and the ''East Tower'', have 28 floors each. - Emporis The center houses a complex of shops, offices, and a five-star hotel, and lies at the heart of Casablanca in the Maarif district, at the crossroads between Zerktouni Boulevard and the Boulevard Al Massira Al Khadra. Casablanca Cathedral
Casablanca Cathedral (, ), or Church of the Sacred Heart (, ), is a church architecture, church located in Casablanca, Morocco. History The Casablanca church was constructed in 1930. The cathedral ceased its religious function in 1956, after the independence of Morocco. It subsequently became a cultural centre which is open to visitors. It has hosted numerous art exhibitions. The Institut Français in Casablanca organized an electronic music night inside the nave of the former church on October 10, 2015. Architecture The church was designed by French architect Paul Tournon, using the Art Deco style. Greater Casablanca
Grand Casablanca or Greater Casablanca (Arabic: الدار البيضاء الكبرى) was one of the sixteen former regions of Morocco that existed from 1997 to 2015. Located in coastal northwestern Morocco, it was the most densely populated region and covered an area of 1,117 km2. The population at the 2014 census was 4,270,750. The region was the economic heart of the Moroccan economy with Casablanca, the region's capital, being the effective economic capital of Morocco. The region was bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the north and by the region of Chaouia-Ouardigha on the other three sides. The last wāli or governor of Greater Casablanca was Mohammed Kabbaj. Chaouia (Morocco)
The Chaouia () is a plain and historical and ethno-geographical region of Morocco in the historical region of Tamasna, Tamesna. It is bounded by the Oum Er-Rbia River, Oum er-Rbi' River to its southwest, the Cherrate River to its northeast, the plain of Tadla to the southeast and the Atlantic Ocean to the northwest. The region covers a land area of nearly 14 000 km2. The term also refers to a Tribe, tribal confederation that traditionally inhabits the region. Etymology The word "Chaouia" means "Land of Chaouis", transliterated in French language, French. "Chaoui" () is an Arabic word meaning "possessors of sheep" or "shepherds". Regions Of Morocco
Regions are currently the highest administrative divisions in Morocco. Since 2015, Morocco officially administers 12 regions, including one (Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab) that lies completely within the disputed territory of Western Sahara and two (Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and Guelmim-Oued Noun) that lie partially within it.
