Cartagena (Rodas)
Rodas () is a municipality and town in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. It was founded in 1859 under the name of ''Lechuzo''. In 1879 it was renamed Rodas in honour of capitán general ''Caballero de Rodas''. Geography The municipality is divided into the barrios and villages of Cabecera (the town proper), Ariza, Cartagena, Congojas, Jabacoa, La Unión, Limones, Medidas, Santiago, Soledad and Turquino. Until the 1977 administrative reform, the village of Arriete-Ciego Montero, currently in the municipality of Palmira, was part of it. It is bordered by the municipalities of Aguada de Pasajeros, Abreus, Cienfuegos, Palmira, Lajas, Santo Domingo (in Villa Clara Province) and Los Arabos (in Matanzas Province). Abreus
Abreus () is a municipality and town in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. It was founded in 1840. History Abreus was founded as San Segundo de los Abreu in 1840 by Trinidadian landowners during an economic boom of slave-labor sugar cane plantations. Geography The municipality includes the town of Abreus and the villages of Babiney, Carmelina, Cayo Grande, Charcas, Cienguita, Constancia, Horquitas, Juraguá, Matun, Mijailito, Navarra, Nueva Juraguá, San Ignacio, Simpatía and Yaguaramas. Matanzas Province
Matanzas () is one of the provinces of Cuba. Major towns in the province include Cárdenas, Colón, Jovellanos and the capital of the same name, Matanzas. The resort town of Varadero is also located in this province. Among Cuban provinces, Matanzas is one of the most industrialized, with petroleum wells, refineries, supertanker facilities, and 21 sugar mills to process the harvests of the fields of sugarcane in the province. Santo Domingo is a municipality and town in the Villa Clara Province of Cuba. It was founded in 1819 and established as a municipality in 1879. Geography The town is divided into the wards (''barrios'') of Este (east) and Oeste (west). Lajas, Cuba
Lajas, known historically and culturally as Santa Isabel de las Lajas, is a municipality and town in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. It is located in the northern part of the province, west of Santa Clara and immediately south of the A1 motorway. History The firsts settlements of the area began in 1800, with Lajas forming on August 29, 1824, named Santa Isabel de las Lajas, after a Canary Islander named it after his wife, Isabel Castellón. In 1854 Lajas changed from a hamlet into a town by Ayuntamiento of the city of Cienfuegos. In 1879 it became a municipality of the former Santa Clara Province. Cienfuegos (), capital of Cienfuegos Province, is a city on the southern coast of Cuba. It is located about from Havana and has a population of 178,368 in 2022. Palmira is a municipality and town in the Cienfuegos Province of Cuba. The whole municipality has 31,813 inhabitants. History It was founded in 1879 under the name ''Las Casas''.
