"Carry Me Home" is a 2015 song by American folk-pop duo the Sweeplings. The song premiered on NPR in July 2015, and was released as part of the album ''Rise & Fall'' in August. The song was later used as the backdrop for the official trailer for the final season of the Netflix series '' Longmire''. History Composition and lyrical interpretation "Carry Me Home" was written by singer-songwriters Cami Bradley and Whitney Dean, known collectively as the Sweeplings. The Sweeplings
The Sweeplings is an American pop–folk duo comprising singer-songwriters Cami Bradley and Whitney Dean. The two musicians met in 2014 after Dean's wife saw Bradley perform during an episode of ''America's Got Talent'' and suggested that her husband should write music with Bradley. Their first meeting resulted in eight songs co-written over the course of a weekend, and their debut, self-titled EP. The Sweeplings followed with their debut full-length album ''Rise & Fall'' in 2015 and ''Covers, Ch. 1'' in 2016. Also in 2016, the EP ''Winter's Call'' was released; the Sweeplings joined Nettwerk in 2017 for their third EP, ''Sleepwalking''. Joy Elizabeth Williams (born November 14, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter. The winner of four Grammy Awards, Williams has released five solo albums and four EPs since her self-titled debut in 2001. She was half of the Civil Wars duo from 2009 until 2014. Early life Williams was born in West Branch, Michigan, but raised in a Christian home in Mount Hermon in Santa Cruz County, California, where her parents worked in ministry. She attended Valley Christian High School in San Jose and graduated as the class valedictorian in 2001. In addition to singing in church, Williams began writing faith-based pop songs while living in Santa Cruz. The Civil Wars were an American musical duo composed of Joy Williams and John Paul White. Formed in 2008, The Civil Wars won four Grammy Awards prior to their 2014 breakup. John Paul White (born August 4, 1972) is an American singer-songwriter, and was a member of the Grammy Award-winning duo The Civil Wars. He restarted his solo career with his 2016 release, ''Beulah''. Early life White was born in Muscle Shoals, Alabama and grew up in Loretto, Tennessee, on a chicken farm. He attended Sacred Heart School as well as Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Loretto, Tennessee, as a child and graduated from Loretto High School. He is the oldest of four children. Contemporary folk music refers to a wide variety of genres that emerged in the mid 20th century and afterwards which were associated with traditional folk music. Starting in the mid-20th century a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This process and period is called the (second) folk revival and reached a zenith in the 1960s.
