Carolina Ballet
Carolina Ballet is one of America's arts organizations, programming traditional ballets and new works by contemporary choreographers. The Ballet was launched as a professional company in 1998 under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Robert Weiss (choreographer), Robert Weiss. In 2019, Zalman Raffael became the Artistic Director/CEO joined by Michele Weathers as executive director. For more than 20 years, Carolina Ballet has garnered critical praise from the national and international media, staged over 100 world premiere ballets, and in 2018, chartered the School of Carolina Ballet. Since its inaugural season in 1998, Carolina Ballet and this community have accomplished something remarkable. Margaret Severin-Hansen
Margaret Severin-Hansen is an American ballerina. Since 2002, she has been a principal dancer with the Carolina Ballet. She also serves as the co-chairman of the School of Carolina Ballet, as the Director of the Ruth S. Shur Summer Intensive Program, and is a founding member of the School of American Ballet's Alumni Advisory Committee on Diversity and Inclusion. Early life and training Severin-Hansen was born in New York and is of Asian descent. She began her ballet training at the Huntington School of Ballet in Long Island, New York. When she was thirteen, she transferred to the School of American Ballet in Manhattan. In 1997, she trained with the Royal Danish Ballet for six weeks and also performed in the School of American ballet's 33rd Annual Workshop Performance. Career In 1998, Severin-Hansen joined the Carolina Ballet as an apprentince in its inaugural season, and was promoted to principal dancer in 2002. SarahAnne Perel is an American ballerina. Since 2024, she has danced with the Miami City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. Perel was formerly a dancer with Carolina Ballet and Los Angeles Ballet. Early life, education, and training Perel grew up in New York. From 2004 to 2014, she attended the School of American Ballet. Lynne Taylor-Corbett
Lynne Aileen Taylor-Corbett (December 2, 1946 – January 12, 2025) was an American choreographer, director, lyricist and composer. Life and career Lynne Taylor-Corbett was born in Denver, Colorado on December 2, 1946. She grew up in the area and attended Littleton High School. She gained her first exposure to dance through her mother, a pianist for ballet classes. She left Colorado for New York City at the age of 17, where she initially found work as an usher at the New York State Theater (renamed the David H. The Tempest
''The Tempest'' is a Shakespeare's plays, play by William Shakespeare, probably written in 1610–1611, and thought to be one of the last plays that he wrote alone.
