Carminodoris Punctulifera
''Carminodoris'' is a genus of sea slugs, dorid nudibranchs, shell-less marine gastropod mollusks in the family Discodorididae. The genus ''Carminodoris'' was originally classified by Bergh in 1891 in the subfamily Platydorididae (despite the use of suffix -idea), a subfamily of the family Dorididae. In 1934 Alice Pruvot-Fol elevated this subfamily to its new status as family latydorididae. In 2002 Valdés has given the name Discodorididae precedence over the name Platydorididae. The Sea Slug Forum however classifies this genus in the family Dorididae. As a doctor his speciality was sexually transmitted diseases. In Copenhagen a hospital and a street are named after him. Bergh was also an active malacologist, i.e. a zoologist who studies molluscs, in particular the nudibranchs, shell-less marine gastropods. He had well over 90 publications in this field and took part in a scientific expedition to Indonesia. He named and described numerous species of nudibranchs. Biography Rudolph Bergh was born in Copenhagen. His father was chief physician in the army Ludvig Anton Berg (1793–1853). His mother was Anne Sophie Kirstine (maiden name Pedersen). Alice Pruvot-Fol
Alice Pruvot-Fol (4 August 1873 – 28 March 1972) was a French opisthobranch malacologist. She was the author of many new species, mostly described on the basis of preserved animals. She described a new species (''Nembrotha rutilans'', Pruvot-Fol, 1931) on the basis of a painted illustration in a book by William Saville-Kent (1893) entitled ''The Great Barrier Reef of Australia''. She continued working and naming new species until late in her life. Even in 1962, when she was 89 years old, she named ''Phyllidia pulitzeri''. Dorididae
Sea lemon is a loosely applied common name for a group of medium-sized to large shell-less colorful sea slugs or nudibranchs, specifically dorid nudibranchs in the taxonomic family Dorididae and other closely related families. These are marine gastropod mollusks. The Monterey sea lemon is '' Doris montereyensis'' and the mottled pale sea lemon is ''Diaulula lentiginosa''. The common name sea lemon probably comes from these animal's visual similarity to a lemon based on such qualities as the roughened skin, the oval form when seen from above, and the common but not inevitable orange to pale yellow coloration. Description These dorid nudibranchs can be large (up to 20 cm), rather flattened, and oval in shape when seen from above. They have two hornlike projections (rhinophores) on the head, and a rosette-like tuft of gills on the back of the animal. The mantle is sometimes sprinkled with black dots, and it is covered in small bumps, which are called tubercles. Life habit ...

Carl Gottfried Semper
Carl Gottfried Semper (July 6, 1832, Altona, Hamburg – May 29, 1893, Würzburg) was a German ethnologist and animal ecologist. Career Semper attended the Hanover Polytechnic from 1851 to 1854 and achieved a Ph.D. in zoology from the University of Würzburg in 1856. He traveled to the Philippines and Palau two years later, staying in the region until 1865 in association with Museum Godeffroy. Semper published several works detailing his observations and experiences among Pacific peoples. In addition to his written work, he delivered lectures at the Lowell Technological Institute (now merged into the University of Massachusetts Lowell) near Boston and maintained a large collection of animal specimens. His work in Palau is especially noted as comprising one of the very few reliable accounts of cultural practices that are today severely diminished by Westernization. Semper is also praised for his humane and even-handed attitude toward indigenous cultures. Semper was an e ...
