Carlotta (performer)
Carlotta (born 2 September 1943) is the stage name of Carol Byron, also known as Carol Spencer and credited briefly on television as Carole Lea, a transgender Australian cabaret performer and television personality. Carlotta began her professional career in 1959 as a Bridgette Bardot-like performer, as an original cast member of the long-running Sydney-based male revue ''Les Girls'' (pronounced ''lay-girls'') cabaret show, which had an international following, in Sydney's Kings Cross. Carlotta performed spot-numbers as a singer and comedian, and eventually became the show's compere and lead attraction. Although best known as a cabaret performer, in 1974 Carlotta appeared on the television series '' Number 96'' as Miss Robyn Ross, in a comedic story line that saw her coming out as transgender to the surprise of her boyfriend Arnold ( Jeff Kevin). Gender-affirming surgery (GAS) is a surgical procedure, or series of procedures, that alters a person's physical appearance and sexual characteristics to resemble those associated with their gender identity. The phrase is most often associated with transgender health care, though many such treatments are also pursued by cisgender individuals. It is also known as sex reassignment surgery (SRS), gender confirmation surgery (GCS), and several other names. Stan Zemanek
Stan Zemanek (29 May 1947 – 12 July 2007) was an Australian shock jock, radio broadcaster, television presenter, radio producer and author who presented a night-time show on The Macquarie Network station 2UE in Sydney and which was networked across parts of Australia via Southern Cross. He was known for trading abusive remarks with some of his callers. He was also the 13th and longest-serving "Beast" on the popular panel TV talk show ''Beauty and the Beast''. Drag is a performance of exaggerated femininity, masculinity, or other forms of gender expression, usually for entertainment purposes. Drag usually involves cross-dressing. A drag queen is someone (usually male) who performs femininely and a drag king is someone (usually female) who performs masculinely. Abraham Gilbert Saffron (6 October 1919 – 15 September 2006) was an Australian hotelier, nightclub owner, and property developer who was one of the major figures in organised crime in Australia in the latter half of the 20th century.
