Cappella della Beata Vergine di Lourdes (Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes; also known as Chiesetta di Grava) is a Roman Catholic chapel located in Cortina d'Ampezzo Cortina d'Ampezzo (; lld, Anpezo, ; historical de-AT, Hayden) is a town and ''comune'' in the heart of the southern (Dolomitic) Alps in the Province of Belluno, in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. Situated on the Boite river, in an alp ...'s Grava di Sotto neighborhood. Built in 1907, it contains elements by the artist Corrado Pitscheider of the Val Gardena. Its feast day is celebrated on 11 February. The interior features a spacious nave, an altar, and the Lourdes grotto. The space is lit by large windows. There are statues of the Virgin and Santa Bernadette, as well as St. Lucia and St. Michael the Archangel. A framed canvas of St. Joseph with the Child hangs in the presbytery. Cortina d'Ampezzo (; lld, Anpezo, ; historical de-AT, Hayden) is a town and ''comune'' in the heart of the southern (Dolomites, Dolomitic) Alps in the Province of Belluno, in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. In the Middle Ages, Ampezzo fell under the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Aquileia (State), Patriarchate of Aquileia and of the Holy Roman Empire. Val Gardena (; german: Gröden ; lld, Gherdëina ) is a valley in Northern Italy, in the Dolomites of South Tyrol. It is best known as a tourist skiing, rock climbing, and woodcarving area. Geography The valley's main river is the Derjon, a tributary of the Eisack river. The mountains that surround the valley are formed by dolomite rocks, which confer on them a characteristic appearance. Most of the steep slopes are covered by pine woods. The favoured cultivations are barley, rye, potatoes, flax, buckwheat. The three municipalities in Val Gardena are Urtijëi, Sëlva, and Santa Cristina; they were served by the Val Gardena Railway from 1916 until 1960. Culture Val Gardena is one of five valleys with a majority of Ladin speakers (two of these valleys are in South Tyrol).
