Cannabis In Thailand
In Thailand, cannabis, known by the name ''Ganja'' (; ), is currently (as of November 2024) decriminalized. However, cannabis extracts and products are officially limited to 0.2% THC content. Only medicinal use is legal, but in practice there is wide recreational usage. Legislation has been proposed which provides for fines for non-permitted uses and fines and jail time for unauthorized sale. Import and export of cannabis are still highly regulated. Sales of cannabis plant parts, products, and edibles are prohibited to minors (under 20-years-old), pregnant women, and breastfeeding women. Cannabis smoke is considered a public nuisance and thus prohibited in public areas. Public use is sometimes subject to fines under the 1992 Public Health Act. Anutin Charnvirakul
Anutin Charnvirakul (, ; born 13 September 1966) is a Thai politician who has served as the Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister since 2023. From 2019 to 2023 he was the Minister of Public Health in Prayut Chan-o-cha's government and was the prominent public figure in charge of managing the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand. Anutin has been a member of several political parties such as the National Development Party, Thai Rak Thai Party and is currently the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party. Bhumjaithai Party
Bhumjaithai Party (BJT; , ) is a major conservative populist political party in Thailand. It was founded on 5 November 2008, in anticipation of the 2 December 2008 Constitutional Court ruling that dissolved its ''de facto'' predecessor, the Neutral Democratic Party (PMT), along with the People's Power Party (PPP) and the Thai Nation Party.
