Candidates In The 2024 United Kingdom General Election
Prospective parliamentary candidates were selected for the 2024 United Kingdom general election, 2024 general election. Due to the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, most constituency boundaries changed at this election. The tables below show both the new and old constituency names. Candidates might have been selected on either the old or the new boundaries. At the deadline on 7 June 2024, a total of 132 MPs announced they were standing down at the election. This included a record number of Conservative MPs. 29 former Members of Parliament intend to stand in the election. For the first time since 2015 United Kingdom general election, 2015, there were no vacant seats at dissolution. The deadline for candidates to be nominated was 16:00 BST on 7 June 2024. The Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) is a unionist, loyalist, and national conservative political party in Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1971 during the Troubles by Ian Paisley, who led the party for the next 37 years. Ulster Unionist Party
The Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) is a unionist political party in Northern Ireland. The party was founded in 1905, emerging from the Irish Unionist Alliance in Ulster.
